Mr. Sanchez Herrera's decision to leave Cuba for Honduras marked a significant turning point in his career, as it was the first time Cuban doctors were permitted to travel abroad without government permission.

After relocating to the U.S., he pursued further education at Miami Regional University, obtaining a Master of Science in nursing in 2021 and completing a post-master's program to become a family nurse practitioner in 2022.
