Ms. Gorman-Althof has established a distinguished career in the arts and education, marked by her leadership and dedication to empowering women. As the lead producer and chief executive officer of MNM Theatre since 2014, she has overseen building sets for theaters across South Florida, produced numerous live theatre musical shows plus a show on a national tour ("Disenchanted!") and managed all administrative tasks. Her commitment to excellence is evident in her hands-on approach. Her creative endeavors include directing sixteen professional musical theatre shows at regional venues since 2014, with notable productions that include "Man of La Mancha," "Hair" and "Grease."
Prior to her current role, she contributed significantly to the Dreyfoos School of the Arts as a volunteer and then as a substitute teacher in the theatre department from 2008 to 2014. She created and directed a children's show in 2012 and in 2014.
Before her tenure at Dreyfoos, Ms. Gorman-Althof held several leadership positions, including president of Markel Enterprises LLC and S.M.I.R.K. Entertainment LLC. Her extensive experience with Weight Watchers – owning two franchises that spanned from Boca Raton to Titusville, the Panhandle of Florida, and the Southern half of Alabama - where she oversaw 300 classes a week and 300 employees. Ms. Gorman-Althof worked intensively with Weight Watchers International through her franchisees and the WWFA – a franchisee organization of Weight Watchers Franchise owners – from 1973 to 2008, where she held all board positions ultimately becoming president.
Ms. Gorman-Althof's educational background laid a strong foundation for her professional achievements. She earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Memphis State University in 1970 after obtaining an Associate of Arts from the University of Florida in 1968. Her perseverance and resilience have been instrumental in overcoming challenges throughout her career, contributing to her success as a leader and mentor.
Civically involved, Ms. Gorman-Althof has been president and is currently vice president of Communities In Schools of Palm Beach County. Additionally, she has supported various organizations, such as The Crossroads Program in Palm Beach County, and garnered many awards from Executive Women of Palm Beach County, The Athena Award from the National Chamber of Commerce, the Giraffe Award (for sticking your neck out to support other women), March of Dimes, Palm Beach County Diabetes Association, and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, where she is a founding member, and other prestigious honors.
In honor of her many successes, Ms. Gorman-Althof has been recognized with several awards, including the Giraffe Award in 2014 and the ATHENA Leadership Award from the National Chamber of Commerce in 2004.
In her personal life, Ms. Gorman-Althof was born on Long Island, NY, and enjoys reading, spending time with her cats and relaxing in her free time. She is excited about continuing her current show, "Disenchanted!," which explores empowering narratives for women through the lens of fairytale princesses finding independence after their traditional stories end. This project reflects her commitment to storytelling that resonates with women's experiences, particularly those of single mothers.
Ms. Gorman-Althof views success as a journey that requires daily perseverance and intentional decision-making. She believes in always uplifting others and always striving to lead by example.
