In this role, he oversees all sales channels for referral bank partners, a position that marks the pinnacle of his professional aspirations. His leadership has been instrumental in achieving unprecedented productivity levels and meeting key performance metrics, a testament to his strategic acumen and motivational prowess.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Spicel was the senior director and head of Comerica Merchant Sales at Worldpay from 2021 to 2023. His tenure in this role was marked by significant contributions to the company's growth and success. From 2018 to 2021, he served as the senior director and general manager of strategic bank partnerships for Worldpay's joint venture with People's United Bank in the Northeast United States, where he honed his skills in program management and expanded his expertise beyond sales.

Mr. Spicel's journey with Worldpay began in earnest when he became the director of sales for bank alliances in the Northeast United States in 2009. Before that, he was a regional sales manager for bank alliances covering Ohio, Western-Central Pennsylvania and West Virginia. His earlier roles included regional sales manager for direct sales and senior account executive. His foundational experience in banking was gained as an assistant branch manager and branch business banker at Citizens Bank in Brunswick, Ohio, in 2007.

Throughout his career, Mr. Spicel has been recognized for his leadership and networking abilities. He is a member of several industry-related organizations, including the Electronic Transactions Association, and serves as a mentor for the Global Mentoring Initiative. Additionally, he is an ambassador for Women of Worldpay and has held various roles within Business Network International (BNI), including president of the North Coast Chapter.

Mr. Spicel's educational background includes coursework toward a Bachelor of Science in business management and leadership at Capella University. He holds numerous certifications that have bolstered his professional capabilities, such as the Certified Payment Professional designation from the Electronic Transactions Association and certificates in emotionally intelligent leadership from Weatherhead Executive Education at Case Western Reserve University and data analytics from Cornell University.

His achievements have been recognized through multiple awards, the highlights being the Circle of Excellence qualification, the most recent being 2024, 2023 and 2018. He has also contributed to various projects aimed at enhancing market engagement and developing strategies for pipeline building and sales leader practices. Mr. Spicel attributes his success to the support of his wife and family, as well as key mentors/leaders in Michelle, John, Steve and Tyler and his current leadership team. He is very intentional about building connections and a cohesive team, seeking to know individuals while establishing effective processes.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Spicel enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and maintaining a saltwater fish tank, watching NFL football (with a particular fondness for the Cleveland Browns) and personal fitness. Looking ahead, he envisions himself advancing into a senior vice president role encompassing sales, client management, program management and operational responsibilities.
