Dr. Khalili has established himself as a distinguished figure in the realm of health care transformation, with a career marked by significant contributions to interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP). As president of InterprofessionalResearch.Global, he has been at the forefront of advancing collaborative research initiatives aimed at enhancing health care delivery worldwide since 2012. His leadership in this role underscores his commitment to fostering a more integrated approach to healthcare.

In addition to his presidency, Dr. Khalili serves as a professor and senior associate dean of academic administration at the School of Health Sciences, Winston-Salem State University, a position he has held since 2023. His academic leadership is further complemented by his roles as Distinguished Scholar and Fellow at National Academies of Practice (NAP) and a co-facilitator and chair of the Evidence Collaborative Committee, as well as a member of the Collaboration Hub at the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative (AIHC), where he has been active since 2019. These roles demonstrate his commitment to fostering interprofessional collaboration in academic and professional settings.

Dr. Khalili's previous positions include serving as director of the UW Centre for Interprofessional Practice and Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2019 to 2023. During this time, he played a pivotal role in shaping interprofessional education programs that prepare future healthcare professionals for collaborative practice. His tenure as an adjunct research professor at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada, which began in 2018 and continues to this day, further exemplifies his ongoing commitment to academic excellence and research.

Dr. Khalili's earlier career includes significant contributions as an associate editor for the Journal of Interprofessional Care from 2017 to 2024 and The Clinical Teacher from 2013 to 2017. He also served as a professor and coordinator of international projects and partnership at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, Canada, from 2010 to 2019, where he played a key role in developing innovative educational programs for nursing students. His work as an employer engagement lead at the CARE Centre for Internationally Educated Nurses from 2014 to 2016 reflects his dedication to supporting internationally educated nurses in their professional integration.

Dr. Khalili's academic achievements have laid a strong foundation for his career success. He earned his PhD in leadership in nursing education from Western University in 2013, following a Master of Science in medical and surgical nursing education from Iran in 2000 and a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1997. These educational accomplishments have equipped him with the expertise necessary to excel in various leadership roles within academia and the health care sector.

Throughout his career, Dr. Khalili has been recognized for his excellence in teaching, innovation, and leadership. He received the Interprofessional Recognition Award from NAP in 2025, the Global Interprofessional Collaboration Award from the Global Confederation for IPECP in 2023, the American Interprofessional Scholarship Award from AIHC in 2022, Recognition of Excellence in Teaching Award from Western University in both 2015 and 2016; the Provincial Nurse Educators Interest Group Award from Registered Nurses Foundation of Ontario (2010); and Recognition of Excellence in Research Award from Western University in 2010. He was nominated for the Outstanding Achievement ACE Award by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in Ontario, Canada, in 2014 and 2015. Additionally, he was nominated for the President's Distinguished Achievement Award for Research and Innovation.

Dr. Khalili attributes his success to the unwavering support of his family, as well as a strong network and reliable team for collaboration. Looking ahead, he aims to develop a more team-oriented, collaborative approach to healthcare delivery, reflecting his enduring commitment to improving patient outcomes through interprofessional collaboration.
