HONOLULU, HI, July 29, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Andres Harnisch has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Andres Harnisch, founder of Harnisch & Company, is a leader in the fields of fine art and personal property appraisal, as well as a pioneer in high-value estate and fiduciary brokerage services.
Mr. Harnisch is the chief executive officer of Andres Harnisch Brokerage, Inc., doing business as Harnisch & Company, a respected Hawaii-based firm specializing in appraisals, estate-related personal property management, and brokerage of fine art, antiques, jewelry, and collectibles. Since founding his brokerage business in 2006, he has built a multifaceted practice rooted in trust, discretion, and tailored client solutions—serving attorneys, trustees, banks, families, and individuals navigating life transitions. His firm is known for concierge-style service, offering everything from strategic liquidation support and fine art collection building to IRS-compliant appraisals and coordinated high-value estate transitions.
Originally trained in Germany through a certified vocational apprenticeship at the InterContinental Hotel Berlin, Mr. Harnisch earned the formal designation of Hotel Fachmann. He went on to hold roles at the InterContinental Mayfair in London from 2000 to 2002 and InterContinental Dallas from 2002 to 2005, before relocating to Honolulu to launch his own business as a professional organizer and broker of art, antiques, jewelry, and personal property, coordinating sales and handling logistics for clients worldwide.
His transition into appraising began under the mentorship of renowned Asian art expert Wayne Morioka, with whom he collaborated for more than a decade on large-scale projects across the Hawaiian Islands. This long-standing mentorship evolved as Mr. Morioka prepared for retirement and sought to ensure continuity of service for his clients. Mr. Harnisch later pursued formal credentials and ultimately established appraisal services as a central offering of his firm.
Mr. Harnisch is widely recognized for his expertise in fine art, sculpture, and complex estate collections, and for his practical, hands-on experience with Asian decorative arts gained through years of market engagement and mentorship. He holds the following certifications:
- Senior Accredited International Valuer (AiV) and Senior Gems & Jewelry Valuer (AiS-GJV) — Appraisers International Society (AIS)
- Certified Fine Art Appraiser — International Fine Art Appraisers (IFAA)
- Certified Personal Property Appraiser — Certified Appraisers Guild of America (CAGA)
- Accredited Estate Liquidator — American Society of Estate Liquidators (ASEL), the only professional in Hawaii to hold this credential
Mr. Harnisch has been interviewed as an expert on radio and television and maintains longstanding relationships with global auction houses including Sotheby's, Christie's, Bonhams, and Heritage Auctions. He also maintains a long-standing presence in the online marketplace, having successfully sold fine and decorative objects through multiple digital platforms since 2001.
His approach to appraisal and client services is deeply empathetic and informed by real-life transitions. He believes every client has a story, and every object carries weight—emotionally, historically, or financially. The clients he serves are often facing personal loss, downsizing for retirement, or restructuring their lives after major change. Many have worked hard to build meaningful collections or homes over a lifetime, and Mr. Harnisch is known for helping them find thoughtful, dignified solutions when it is time to part with treasured items. His ability to listen, adapt, and deliver practical outcomes has earned him a reputation as a trustworthy advisor.
Mr. Harnisch lives in Honolulu with his wife and business partner, Maureen Harnisch. Together, they are renovating their hillside cottage into a space that reflects their shared values—resourcefulness, character, and care. Originally from East Berlin, he credits his upbringing with shaping his resourcefulness and commitment to pragmatic problem-solving. Looking ahead, he aims to remain the first call for attorneys, trustees, families, and collectors—both in Hawaii and on the mainland—who need dependable, knowledgeable support in valuing, managing, or parting with personal property in the islands. Beyond appraisal and brokerage, his firm is known for its concierge-style approach, helping clients navigate complex logistical challenges: coordinating art shipments, organizing downsizing projects, managing inter-island moves, even overseeing time-sensitive estate preparations. Harnisch & Company has built a reputation for finding elegant, real-world solutions to complex property challenges. When a task falls outside their core services, they draw from a trusted network of vetted local professionals who share their standards and values. "We can't do everything ourselves," Mr. Harnisch says, "but we know who can—and we make sure our clients are in good hands from start to finish."
