PORT ANGELES, WA, August 11, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- George Hill has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Hill has dedicated nearly five decades to the world of sports broadcasting and event coordination, having served as a statistician for CBS Sports since 2017. His expertise in compiling and analyzing sports statistics has been invaluable in providing accurate and insightful data during broadcasts. This role complements his extensive experience as a freelance sports events professional, a role he has maintained since 1976, allowing him to engage with various sporting events and further hone his skills.
Mr. Hill's career also includes a significant tenure with ABC Sports, where he worked as a statistician and supervisor for 40 years from 1977 to 2017. During this time, he played a pivotal role in numerous broadcasts, including the iconic Miracle on Ice game in 1980. His involvement in seven Olympic Games — six on-site and one from New York — further highlights his dedication and passion for sports broadcasting.
In addition to his work in sports, Mr. Hill has also been the director of events at Olympic Medical since 1997, where he has been instrumental in coordinating numerous fundraising events to support the local hospital. His commitment to this role underscores his dedication to community service and his ability to leverage his professional skills for philanthropic endeavors.
Mr. Hill's journey into his field began at the University of Washington, where he worked in the sports information office. This early experience ignited his interest in sports broadcasting and led him to apply for a position with ABC Sports for the 1976 Montreal Olympics. The opportunity allowed him to combine his passion for sports with his skills in statistics and broadcasting, setting the stage for a successful career.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hill has been recognized for his contributions to the field with three Emmy Awards. His achievements are further complemented by the support and collaboration of a diverse group of individuals he works with, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in producing successful broadcasts.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Hill enjoys reading and participating in sports as hobbies. He acknowledges that as he approaches retirement age, he plans to focus more on fundraising efforts at the hospital once his announcers retire from television sports. His sister Hester's success as a national badminton champion and her enshrinement in Western Washington University's athletic hall of fame serve as additional sources of inspiration within his family.
