In this leadership capacity since 2025, he oversees clinical nursing operations and perioperative services, including the surgical intensive care unit, recovery room, operating room, ambulatory surgery department and special surgery department. Before advancing to his current position, Mr. Njoku served as the assistant director of nursing administration and operations at the same institution from 2022 to 2024, where he capably guided administrative functions and operational strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of nursing services. Mr. Njoku's tenure as a nurse manager and head nurse between 2019 and 2021 further defines his impressive profile and provided him with insights into managing complex healthcare environments, coordinating patient care and optimizing resource allocation.
Mr. Njoku initiated his career in 2011, thriving as a registered nurse in the medical intensive care unit at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center through 2019. Additionally, he held a concurrent role as a per diem staff registered nurse in the cardiac surgery intensive care unit at Mount Sinai Health System in 2018. He cites his persistent dedication to conducting medical and educational missions, beyond his professional obligations, as his most notable achievement thus far, and Mr. Njoku is humbled to support underserved communities in Latin America and Asia.
The pursuit of academic excellence led Mr. Njoku to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hunter College in 2017, after which he earned a Master of Business Administration in health care administration from Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College in 2025. He also holds an Associate of Science in registered nursing from Hostos Community College – CUNY and completed a fellowship in nursing economics from the Commission for Nurse Reimbursement. Additionally, Mr. Njoku has secured distinct industry credentials such as HI-FIVE from Columbia University and critical care registered nurse certification from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
In addition to his professional roles, Mr. Njoku remains actively involved in several organizations. He has served as the secretary and treasurer for the Society of Critical Care Medicine since 2024 and has been a member of the board of directors for the American Association for Men in Nursing since 2022 and the New York Relief Network since 2020. Mr. Njoku's affiliations with the National Black Nurses Association and as an ambassador for the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses further reflect his deep commitment to advancing the nursing profession.
Mr. Njoku's dedication extends beyond his professional duties through his involvement with civic organizations such as The Bronx is Blooming and New York Cares, where he has volunteered since 2009. His efforts have earned him numerous accolades, including being named among Crain's New York Business' Notable Leaders in Philanthropy in 2025 and the Nursing Excellence Award, Volunteerism, from the NYC Health + Hospitals in 2023. Additionally, Mr. Njoku accepted both the Clinical Nursing Excellence Award (Surgical Intensive Care Unit Department) and the Clinical Nursing Excellence Award (Individual) from the NYC Health + Hospitals in 2021.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Njoku plans to continue his workforce development project focused on increasing the number of Bronx residents pursuing careers in nursing. This initiative seeks to enhance economic mobility within the community while improving healthcare outcomes by increasing the availability of nurses. He is also collaborating with the Commission for Nurse Reimbursement to positively influence healthcare outcomes for Bronx residents. Through these endeavors, Mr. Njoku remains motivated to make a lasting difference in both his local community and beyond.
