Ms. Durda has established a distinguished career in engineering, marked by her current role as the engineering manager and deputy director of facilities engineering at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Since 2008, she has been instrumental in managing a team of architects, engineers and specialists, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and overseeing contracts with external firms. Ms. Durda's expertise in problem-solving is evident as she addresses challenges that arise during construction projects, guiding her team to maintain project schedules and quality standards. Since joining the government organization, her innovative approach has led to the development of a program that automates the generation of transmittals for technical reviews, streamlining processes for both in-house and outsourced designs.

Before earning her promotion, Ms. Durda served as a staff engineer at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice from 2006 to 2008. Her journey in engineering began with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where she was the first woman hired as an engineer in the southwest region. From 1986 to 1988, she installed radio transmission and reception equipment for aircraft communication. Recognized for her technical acumen, Ms. Durda transitioned to a telecommunications engineering role within the FAA, where she excelled until 1995.

Ms. Durda's career also included diverse experiences outside of engineering. She worked as a marketing consultant for Comtech Inc. from 1996 to 1997 and as a senior consultant at Blythe-Nelson in 1998. Her passion for education led her to teach mathematics at Burleson Independent School District between 1999 and 2005, a role that allowed her to balance her professional aspirations with her family commitments.

Ms. Durda's academic foundation was laid at Texas A&M University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1985. This education has been pivotal in her career achievements, complemented by numerous professional credentials, including a professional engineering license, a certified energy manager designation, and a green building engineer certification.

As a member of esteemed organizations such as the Order of the Engineer and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, Ms. Durda continues to make significant contributions to her field. Additionally, she is actively involved in civic activities. She holds leadership roles within the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 95 and donates to auctions that support veterans and their families.

Ms. Durda's dedication to service was recognized with a 15-Year Service Award from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Eager for future success, she aspires to become a director of engineering while pursuing further certifications, including becoming a certified Texas contract manager. Ms. Durda's determination and persistence have been key drivers of her success, ensuring she remains a respected leader in her field.
