BROOMFIELD, CO, August 21, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David S. Mühlbeier has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Marked by his commitment to leadership, education and advocacy, Mr. Mühlbeier has built a prominent career in risk management, insurance and public safety. Since 2024, he has served as the director of risk management at Leavitt Group Enterprises, where he manages high-severity and nuclear claims within the insurance industry, mentors and coaches clients, conducts webinars and presents at conferences. He is also responsible for providing extensive training to other companies, leveraging his expertise to enhance organizational resilience and preparedness.
In addition to his directorial role, Mr. Mühlbeier has been a risk management advisor with Leavitt Group since 2023. His transition into this position was motivated by a deeply personal experience: On March 1, 2020, he and his wife were involved in a catastrophic multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 in Wyoming. The incident, which involved more than 150 vehicles during a ground blizzard, resulted in severe injuries for his wife, including a traumatic brain injury and spinal damage. Despite dire prognoses, she has made remarkable progress in learning to walk and speak again.
This life-altering event inspired Mr. Mühlbeier to join Leavitt Group with the goal of advocating for others facing similar challenges. In recognition of their shared commitment to supporting those affected by major claims and brain injuries, Leavitt Group created a claims advocate position for his wife, allowing her to assist clients as they navigate complex recovery processes.
Since 2014, Mr. Mühlbeier has also served as president of D&S Risk Management LLC. Through this consultancy, he has provided services to Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 companies, focusing on contractor management, job site safety and operational risk mitigation. His work includes addressing high-stakes challenges across diverse industries, particularly for petrochemical and renewable energy organizations.
Mr. Mühlbeier also dedicated two decades to the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office in Montana, holding multiple roles including sergeant, detective and deputy coroner from 1994 to 2014. During this time, he worked as a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) narcotics detective, trained new staff members and wrote and developed office policies in line with state and federal law. His outstanding contributions saw him recognized with the Montana Law Enforcement Academy Award in 2000.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Mühlbeier served as an incident manager with the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation from 1988 to 1999. In this capacity, he developed foundational skills in crisis response and incident command that would inform his later work in both public safety and private sector risk management.
Recognized as an expert in risk management — a distinction earned through decades of experience and continuous professional development — Mr. Mühlbeier is also an accomplished instructor who teaches courses focused on leadership and incident management. Drawing on thorough federal government training in the national incident management system and extensive service as an incident commander, he guides individuals at all organizational levels through the principles of effective leadership during crises. His instructional roles have included positions at Montana Law Enforcement Academy, the National Institute of Justice and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
Academically, Mr. Mühlbeier successfully earned an associate degree in communications and occupational studies from May Technical College in 1991. To augment his qualifications in risk management and public safety, he has completed several training courses through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and earned a certificate in infectious disease control from The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, he was certified as a first aid instructor by the National Security Council in 2015 and as a firearms instructor by the United States Department of Homeland Security in 2011.
Known for his deep devotion to community service, Mr. Mühlbeier has been engaged as an advocate and volunteer with United Way since 1994. He has also served as a firefighter, engineer and emergency medical services provider with Shepherd Volunteer Fire Department and participates regularly in Christmas and Thanksgiving drives, supporting families and individuals in need.
Happily married and a proud father of one daughter — who serves as a social worker in Montana — Mr. Mühlbeier enjoys going on boating adventures with his family as a balance to his professional endeavors. In the coming years, he aims to continue advocating for positive change within the insurance industry alongside his wife by expanding their team and developing new talent at Leavitt Group. Their shared vision is to transform perceptions of insurance by demonstrating its potential for meaningful support, paving the way for innovative trends that will benefit clients facing significant challenges.
Throughout his journey from public safety service to corporate risk management, Mr. Mühlbeier's unwavering commitment to leadership development, client advocacy and civic engagement has defined his legacy as an influential figure in his field, a dedicated family man and a cornerstone of his community.
