Mr. Carthens has established a global reputation for excellence, defined by over 25 years of honorable service in the United States Army and subsequent civilian roles in support of military operations. Since 2019, he has served as a general equipment specialist with the United States Army Aviation and Missile Command, United States Department of Defense. In this capacity, he supports specific types of equipment with logistical and technical issues, assisting in repairs and presenting alternative solutions to ensure fleet and equipment readiness. Mr. Carthens also engages in mission-essential travel abroad; notably, his expertise is currently applied in South Korea, where he continues to contribute to operational effectiveness.

Mr. Carthens's military tenure began as a student in 1994, after which he excelled as a missile maintenance repairer in Lawton, Oklahoma, from 1994 to 1996 and in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, from 1996 to 1997. From 1997 to 2000, he served as a missile systems technician in Texas before advancing to senior missile systems maintenance supervisor in Germany from 2000 to 2005. Mr. Carthen's instructional capabilities were recognized during his time as senior electronics instructor and writer stateside in Alabama between 2005 and 2007.

In 2008, Mr. Carthens was appointed a senior drill instructor, where he played a pivotal role in shaping recruits through 2010. He subsequently served as a senior missile systems supervisor from 2010 to 2014 and later as a senior logistics manager from 2014 to 2019. Following his retirement from active duty in 2019—a milestone he regards as his most notable achievement—he continued his service as a federal employee until transitioning fully into civilian roles. Notably, in 2024, Mr. Carthens became the owner of Sun City Scrubs LLC. This entrepreneurial venture allows him to expand his professional profile by providing medical apparel through an online platform.

Mr. Carthens is proud to be the first member of his family to graduate from college, and he holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in organizational leadership from Ashford University, which he completed in 2014, before finishing an Associate of Science in business administration and management from Excelsior University in 2017. In 2018, he earned two degrees from Columbia Southern University: a Bachelor of Applied Science in criminal justice and law enforcement administration and a Master of Public Administration. Additionally, Mr. Carthens holds an Associate of Arts in logistics, materials, and supply chain management from American Military University, dating to 2023, and he is pursuing an executive doctoral certificate at Liberty University.

Numerous certifications, including electronics instructor certification from the United States Army further evidence Mr. Carthens's evident dedication to continuous learning. He has also reached level 3 of the lifecycle logistician series from Defense Acquisition University, as well as LOG 350 Understanding Industry, LOG 340 Life Cycle Product Support, and LOG 215 Technical Data Management. In addition to a range of additional LOG certifications, he has completed training in sustainable supply chain management, and he has secured the sexual assault prevention and response advocate certification from the United States Department of Defense.

Throughout his career, Mr. Carthens held various leadership positions across multiple continents, including the Middle East, Europe, the Pacific region, Korea, Hawaii, and the United States. He is also a member of the Order of the Sword and Shield, reflecting his ongoing engagement with industry organizations. His objective to serve extends to civic engagement, and Mr. Carthens is a donor to the Native American School in Montana and participates in the Combined Federal Campaign for the United States Military.
