ORLAND PARK, IL, August 27, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nan Li has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Li has distinguished herself as a clinical pharmacy specialist at UChicago Medicine, where she has served since 2024. In this capacity, she acts as a consultant within the clinic, ensuring that all treatments administered to patients are safe and effective. She collaborates closely with an interdisciplinary medical team comprising attending physicians, fellows, medical students, nurse navigators and pharmacists. Her primary responsibility centers on overseeing chemotherapy and immunotherapy regimens for thoracic and genitourinary cancers, confirming that each therapy aligns with the patient's current disease state and adheres to the latest oncology standards.

As part of her role, Dr. Li evaluates the appropriateness of therapies, monitors organ function to assess treatment tolerance and manages toxicities that may arise from cancer treatments. She is dedicated to mitigating side effects from chemotherapy and immunotherapy, thereby supporting patients' quality of life while maintaining overall treatment effectiveness. Additionally, she serves as a medication expert and resource for her team, addressing complex questions related to cancer therapies and supportive care medications. Achieving expertise in thoracic oncology and urinary tract cancers represents a significant professional milestone, as few pharmacy graduates attain such specialized positions.

Before her current appointment, Dr. Li was a clinical pharmacist at UChicago Medicine from 2020 to 2024. In this role, she provided direct patient care in various clinical settings, contributing to medication management and safety initiatives across multiple departments. From 2018 to 2024, she also held the position of pharmacist at UChicago Medicine, where she was responsible for dispensing medications, verifying prescriptions and supporting the broader health care team in delivering optimal pharmaceutical care.

Dr. Li's foundational training included a pharmacy residency at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana-Champaign from 2017 to 2018. During her residency, she gained comprehensive experience in hospital pharmacy operations, clinical rotations and interdisciplinary collaboration, skills that have proven invaluable throughout her career.

Her early professional journey began as an inpatient pharmacy intern at Kaiser Permanente in Roseville from 2014 to 2017. There, she developed essential competencies in medication preparation and distribution while working alongside experienced pharmacists in a high-volume hospital environment.

Before entering the pharmacy profession, Dr. Li built a strong research background as a staff research associate II at the University of California, San Francisco from 2010 to 2013. She contributed to brain cancer research projects focused on understanding cancer at the cellular level and developing new therapeutic agents. This experience provided her with unique insight into the entire therapy development pipeline, from molecular research through animal studies to clinical application, which continues to inform her work in oncology today. Her career began as a junior specialist at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2009 to 2010.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Li has served as an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Touro University College of Pharmacy since 2020. In this academic role, she mentors pharmacy students and residents, sharing her expertise in oncology pharmacotherapy and patient-centered care.

Dr. Li is actively involved in several professional organizations that support ongoing education and advocacy within the field of pharmacy. She is a member of the California Pharmacists Association, the Illinois Pharmacists Association, and the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA). These affiliations enable her to remain engaged with advancements in pharmacy practice while contributing to broader professional initiatives.

Her academic achievements have been instrumental in shaping her career trajectory. Dr. Li earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 2024, equipping her with leadership skills relevant to healthcare administration and strategic decision-making. She received a Doctor of Pharmacy from Touro College of Pharmacy at Touro University California in 2017, which provided the clinical foundation necessary for advanced practice roles in oncology pharmacy. Her undergraduate studies culminated in a Bachelor of Science in cell and molecular biology from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2009.

Dr. Li attributes much of her success to the unwavering support and guidance of her parents, crediting family encouragement as foundational throughout her academic pursuits and professional development.

Drawn to pharmacy by its distinct focus on treatment rather than diagnosis, Dr. Li found herself captivated by the rapid evolution of cancer care, a field where new therapies continually improve patient outcomes. Her early laboratory work studying brain cancer at the cellular level inspired her commitment to advancing oncology practice through both research and clinical service.
Beyond her clinical duties, Dr. Li has contributed meaningfully to scholarly discourse within her profession. She recently published an article in Pharmacy Times addressing the challenges associated with training new pharmacy residents during the July transition period when recent graduates enter hospitals. The piece highlights strategies for reducing spikes in medication errors that often occur during this critical time.

Dr. Li also participates in community events organized through UChicago Medicine, reflecting her commitment to civic engagement and public health outreach.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Li enjoys sketching, painting, ballet and folk dance as creative outlets. She also finds joy spending time with her two cats.

Looking ahead, Dr. Li aims to continue growing within her oncology specialty while expanding the scope of her practice. She is particularly interested in integrating artificial intelligence into clinical pharmacy to enhance patient care and support medical decision-making, an emerging trend she recognizes as transformative for health care delivery. Additionally, she hopes to increase her involvement with national and international professional organizations by contributing to protocol and guideline development and helping advance pharmacy practice on a broader scale through her expertise.

Dr. Li's dedication to excellence in patient care, research innovation and professional leadership underscores her prominent standing within the field of oncology pharmacy.
