Now retired from his longtime law enforcement and education roles, he continues to shape young lives as a driver's education instructor and author of books that promote child safety advocacy.

Mr. Kahn has been associated with Nevada public schools. Where he served as a teacher, law enforcement officer and child safety activist since 1991. His tenure in this capacity is distinguished by his development and implementation of the Stranger Danger program, which has been credited with thwarting more than 40 abduction attempts in his county alone. A figure believed to be an underestimation due to unreported incidents. This initiative not only safeguarded local children but also became a model for other officers throughout Nevada, underscoring his influence on statewide child safety protocols.

From 2003 to 2011, Mr. Kahn taught courses at Western Nevada College that spanned various educational levels, leveraging his extensive experience in both classroom instruction and law enforcement, to provide students with practical knowledge and real-world applications. In the 2008 to 2009 academic year, he contributed his expertise to the Washoe County School District as a teacher, continuing his dedication to fostering safe learning environments for elementary students.

From 1991 to 2007, Mr. Kahn held the dual responsibilities of drug abuse resistance education coordinator and instructor with the Lyon County Sheriff's Office. His entry into law enforcement was serendipitous yet transformative; while teaching, he became a reserve deputy for Washoe County before being recruited by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office as their next drug abuse resistance education (DARE) officer. Inspired by an early success story involving children who applied his Stranger Danger lessons to avoid abduction, he dedicated himself to expanding child safety programs throughout the region.

Mr. Kahn's earlier career includes a decade-long tenure as a teacher in the Lyon County School District from 1981 to 1991. He taught sixth grade for 11 years, impacting countless students through his dedication to their academic and personal growth. Prior to this, he spent a year teaching in Rock Springs, Wyoming — a formative experience that broadened his perspective on educational needs across different communities.

Before embarking on his teaching career, Mr. Kahn managed his family's toy store in Reno after returning home at his father's request. He oversaw operations until the business was sold following the arrival of a major competitor in the region. This experience honed his leadership skills and business acumen, which later informed his approach to educational administration.

Much of the foundation for Mr. Kahn's multifaceted career stems from his academic background. He earned a Master of Arts in education in administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix, equipping him with advanced skills in scholastic leadership. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education with a minor in business administration from the University of Nevada, Reno, providing him with comprehensive training in pedagogy and organizational management. Additionally, he completed an Associate of Science in criminal justice at Truckee Meadows College, which directly supported his transition into law enforcement and child advocacy roles.

Beyond his professional duties, Mr. Kahn is equally dedicated to community service through affiliations with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Scouting America and the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). He is also the founder of the nonprofit entity ROKA Stranger Danger, further cementing his legacy as a champion for youth safety education.

As an author associated with Bobby & Mandee's Safety Series and Future Horizon publications, Mr. Kahn has contributed valuable written resources aimed at empowering children and educators alike. His work has reached audiences beyond Nevada; notably, after presenting his bullying prevention book during an assembly attended by approximately 500 children, he witnessed its profound impact firsthand when students identified with its message. Having published nine successful books focused on child safety and well-being, he plans to release a new title titled "Gun Safety with Bobby and Mandee" in 2025, continuing his mission to educate and protect future generations.

Born in Reno, Mr. Kahn enjoys restoring classic cars — proudly owning two vintage vehicles. A 63 Galaxie Police car is affectionately named Barney. Mr. Kahn remains passionate about writing and publishing books that make a difference in children's lives.
