Mr. Roig has established a distinguished reputation in public service, marked by progressive leadership roles and a commitment to innovation and community impact. At the International Code Council (ICC), Mr. Roig leads strategic initiatives across Latin America and the Caribbean, driving governmental partnerships and advancing the adoption of modern building codes to enhance safety, sustainability, and climate resilience throughout the region.

Before joining the International Code Council in 2025 as Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Mr. Roig held progressive leadership roles with the City of Austin, including Director of Development Services and Director of Code Enforcement. During his tenure, he led initiatives that modernized permitting processes, launched the Transforming the Site Plan Process program, and pioneered the use of artificial intelligence in land development reviews through a partnership with Archistar—making Austin the first U.S. city to adopt AI in permitting. Additionally, as the development enterprise leader, Mr. Roig coordinated efforts across 15 departments to enhance collaboration and efficiency, achievements that earned him recognition as one of the 100 most influential people in Texas.

Prior to his permanent appointment as Director in 2023, Mr. Roig also held the position of Interim Director for the Development Services Department, guiding operational improvements during a critical transition period. From 2020 to 2023, he was Director of the Austin code department, where he advanced code enforcement practices and promoted public safety initiatives. Previously, Mr. Roig served as the Interim Director in 2020 and the Assistant Director from 2018 to 2020, contributing meaningfully to strategic planning and departmental growth.

From 2016 to 2018, Mr. Roig excelled as a Building Official for the Development Services Department in Austin, overseeing compliance with building regulations and ensuring high standards of safety. Between 2014 and 2016, he managed the Building Inspections Division, leading teams responsible for upholding construction quality throughout the city. He held earlier titles within the same department, including Inspections Supervisor from 2010 to 2014 and Inspector C from 2007 to 2010, where Mr. Roig developed expertise in field operations and regulatory compliance.

Before joining the city of Austin, Mr. Roig earned critical experience as a Building Inspector for the city of San Antonio in 2007, and he was a successful small business leader as the owner of A&P Building Consultants from 2006 to 2007, through which he provided consultancy services for construction projects. From 2005 to 2006, Mr. Roig was a Construction Inspector with Space Gateway Support, following a two-year tenure as a Building Consultant at US Inspect Group Inc., where he was humbled to be recognized as Building Consultant of the year in 2004. Mr. Roig's foundational career roles included serving as a Senior Home Inspector and Construction Supervisor at Tiger Home Inspection from 1996 to 2003.

Throughout his career, Mr. Roig maintained an affiliation with industry organizations such as the American Association of Code Enforcement and CEAT, as well as the International Code Council, where he served as the Director at Large of the Board of Directors from 2022 to 2025. Additionally, he is on the Board of Directors for the Austin Bridge Builders Alliance and has been an affiliate member of ICMA since 2023, and Mr. Roig has participated in the Texas Fire Protection Association since 2019.

Exceptional academic credentials further define Mr. Roig's presence in his field. He earned an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science from Kaplan University, from which he graduated on the dean's list in 2015. He subsequently completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Management at Western Governors University in 2018, after which he pursued graduate studies. Mr. Roig now proudly holds a Master of Science in Management and Leadership from the same institution, completed in 2019.

Mr. Roig's commitment to lifelong learning is further demonstrated by numerous industry certifications, including the completion of When Disaster Strikes from the International Code Council, CompTIA Project+ from CompTIA, Building Inspector and Certified Building Official from the International Code Council. He also secured ICC/AACE property maintenance and housing inspector designations from the International Code Council, and he is a designated code enforcement officer by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Mr. Roig is also an author and published "Construyendo tu Vida como una Casa Espiritual (Building your Life as a Spiritual House)" through Xlibris in 2009, a text that demonstrates his commitment to personal growth and community values, throughout his Faith.

Mr. Roig attributes his achievements to his willingness to take the initiative and his dedication to continuous self-improvement, qualities that have informed his signature approach to advancement and to leadership. His accomplishments have been recognized with several accolades, including the Distinguished Service Award presented by Mayor Kirk Watson for the city of Austin in 2024 and inclusion on the Austin Business Journal's Texas 100 compilation in 2024. Notably, Mr. Roig also accepted Above and Beyond Awards from Rodney Gonzales in 2015 and Greg Guernsey in 2011 for outstanding contributions within Austin's development services departments, and he was named the Building Consultant of the Year by William H. Bowman at US Inspect Group Inc. in 2004.

Throughout his journey, Mr. Roig credits much of his success to the many mentors who generously invested their time, knowledge, and guidance in him. Their influence helped shape his leadership philosophy and fueled his commitment to servant leadership. In turn, Mr. Roig is dedicated to paying it forward by mentoring the next generation of leaders and fostering environments of trust, collaboration, and growth in every organization he serves.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Roig values time spent with family, including five children, enjoying days at the lake and on their farmland, as well as being active at church.
