DOUGLASVILLE, GA, September 12, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Sidrah A. Khan has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Marked by a steadfast commitment to service, Dr. Khan is recognized as a leading expert in social work and trauma-informed care. Her expertise also spans mental health, well-being, crisis intervention, and strategic partnerships. Her career reflects a remarkable progression from early childhood education to higher education leadership, underscoring her dedication to ensuring that those she assists are left in a better position than when they arrived.

In 2025, Dr. Khan began her tenure as a clinical assistant professor of social work and human services field director at Kennesaw State University. In this capacity, she teaches master's level courses in social work, including foundational topics and field preparation. She also works with undergraduate students pursuing careers in human services across disciplines such as nursing, health care, case management, and nonprofit advocacy.

Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Khan served as adjunct faculty at Kennesaw State. She continues to play a pivotal role in placing students at internship sites throughout Atlanta, providing guidance and support during their practical experiences while emphasizing the importance of client-centered service.

From 2020 to 2025, Dr. Khan worked as a school social worker with Henry County Schools in McDonough, Georgia, where she provided direct support to students facing academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges. Her expertise proved vital during times of crisis. Notably, as the state secretary for the School Social Workers Association of Georgia beginning in 2023, she helped establish the state's first crisis response team following the tragic shooting at Apalachee High School in Barrow County. Collaborating with Walmart and other community partners, she facilitated the distribution of more than 2,000 composition notebooks and other resources to help students process their experiences.

In addition to her work in schools, Dr. Khan held clinical roles that deepened her expertise in behavioral health. She served as a behavioral therapist at SpringHealth Behavioral Health & Integrated Care from 2023 to 2024 and as an outpatient therapist at Peachford Behavioral Health in 2022. Earlier, she worked as a foster care case manager at Wellroot Family Services for three years, advocating for children in foster care and supporting families in crisis.

Dr. Khan's earlier experiences also include a program therapist internship at Ridgeview Institute in 2019, where she worked with individuals in acute mental health crisis, and serving as a domestic violence advocate with Partnerships Against Domestic Violence. In 2017, she worked with the Georgia Division of Family & Child Services as a life skills specialist and behavioral aide, equipping young people with essential skills for independent living. Her career began in early childhood education as an assistant family support coordinator and lead preschool teacher at Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Care and at Primrose Schools. Working with children and families in these settings equipped her with invaluable skills in fostering safe environments, building family partnerships, and supporting social and emotional development.

Academically, Dr. Khan earned a Doctor of Social Work in administration and leadership from the University of Kentucky in 2024 and a Master of Social Work in clinical social work from Kennesaw State University in 2020. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Georgia State University. To further strengthen her qualifications, she is certified as a school social work specialist by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Dr. Khan attributes her achievements to her faith, resilience, and the unwavering support of her community and mentors. In particular, she acknowledges Al Paul for his encouragement and steady guidance.

Beyond her academic role, Dr. Khan serves as the state secretary for the School Social Workers Association of Georgia, where she contributes to crisis response initiatives statewide. She has also been a leadership, education, advocacy, and development (LEAD) member with the organization since 2023, is active in the National Association of Social Workers, and has been part of the Phi Alpha Honor Society since 2018.

Equally devoted to community service, she volunteers with Relay for Life of Greater Heights, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Toys for Tots, Families First, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and Georgia Cares. She has also coordinated back-to-school initiatives with Target and contributed to Habitat for Humanity relief efforts.

Throughout her journey from preschool teacher to professor, Dr. Khan's family has been her compass, guiding her growth with values rooted in service and integrity as an American Muslim woman committed to making a meaningful impact. Her dedication has earned her recognition, including the Friends of Children Award for outstanding service to students and families across Georgia — presented by State Superintendent Richard Woods in 2025 — and the Educational Support Personnel of the Year Award at Dutchtown Middle School in 2021.

Looking ahead, Dr. Khan aspires to earn her license as a clinical social worker and to continue implementing improvements within the social work department at Kennesaw State University. Her vision is to strengthen the program by incorporating innovative approaches that respond to technological advancements and evolving societal needs while ensuring comprehensive preparation for future professionals. Her journey thus far, and her future goals, reflect the resilience, passion, and empathy she brings to every endeavor.
