In 2025, Dr. Simpson began working as an independent consultant, collaborating with partners to analyze and implement strategies that drive organizational effectiveness. Her consulting work centers on business strategy with a particular emphasis on human capital, drawing from her extensive experience in big box retail, consumer goods, services, financial services and education. She has been instrumental in identifying suitable training programs, necessary skills and recruiting strategies to support business transformation.

From 2022 to 2025, Dr. Simpson served as senior learning and performance consultant at Edward Jones. In this role, she achieved a significant milestone by creating the first unified onboarding program for field and home office associates in the company's history. This initiative led to a more cohesive integration of employees across the United States and Canada and resulted in budget savings exceeding $200,000.

Between 2020 and 2022, Dr. Simpson held the position of director-capability strategist at Edward Jones. During this period, she spearheaded capability mapping across matrixed teams to align digital branch experience design with strategic objectives. Additionally, from 2019 to 2020, she was department leader, recruitment strategies-FA career development director, where she successfully led recruitment strategies that significantly enhanced diversity within the talent pipeline.

From 2016 to 2019, Dr. Simpson served as senior client experience strategist at Edward Jones, where she developed a comprehensive, human-centered client experience strategy through extensive market research. She also collaborated with the Business Resource Groups to gain cultural insights for targeted marketing.

Before her tenure at Edward Jones, Dr. Simpson was vice president of strategy and insights at U.S. Bank from 2014 to 2016. She previously held the role of vice president and manager of national multicultural markets at U.S. Bank from 2011 to 2014. Among her notable achievements was founding the first business resource group dedicated to supporting African American employees and their allies. This model became the foundation for expanding diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives throughout the organization.

From 2005 to 2006, Dr. Simpson worked as regional store leadership program manager at The Home Depot. She authored the operations manual for all hourly key associates across stores—a unified process that was later automated and adopted as the template for store operations nationwide.

Her earlier experience includes serving as strategic business operations manager at CPI Corp. from 2000 to 2005, where she launched the Mexican business unit that became a highly successful division for the company.

Dr. Simpson's professional journey began with roles such as team lead in the e-commerce division at Convergys, English as a second language instructor for adults, and French and Spanish instructor for kindergarten through eighth-grade after-school programs.

Throughout her career, Dr. Simpson has maintained active memberships in industry-related organizations, including the Association for Talent Development from 2023 to 2024, the program and professional development committee of the Society of Multicultural Professionals in Human Resources, SHRM, and the National Black MBA Association.

Dr. Simpson's academic background has been foundational to her success. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in education administration, leadership and policy studies with a concentration in kindergarten through twelfth grade administration from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis in 2014. She completed an executive master of business administration in international business at Saint Louis University in 2007 after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in French language and literature and international business from Washington University in St. Louis in 1998.

Numerous certifications further demonstrate her commitment to professional growth. In addition to completing The Fellows Experience Leadership Program from Greater St. Louis Inc. and becoming a SHRM senior certified professional, she is a Brinkerhoff high-performance learning journey architect and champion through High Performance Learning Journeys, an enterprise design thinking advocate and practitioner through IBM, completed the international business programme through ESCP Business School, is a certified teacher and holds a superintendent and principal certification.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Simpson has been civically engaged as secretary of Gateway 180 since 2018 and as a member of the Dean's Cabinet for the College of Education at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. Similarly, she has been a leader for the Missouri Charter Public School Association for ten years, a donor at the leadership level for United Way of Greater St. Louis, a board member for Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and a board director for Forsyth School.

Her accomplishments have been recognized with several awards, including Most Influential Business Women by Saint Louis Business Journal in 2016, St. Louis American Young Leader by The St. Louis American Foundation in 2012, Diverse Business Leader Award by Saint Louis Business Journal in 2011, and Forty Under Forty Award by Saint Louis Business Journal in 2007.

In her personal life, Dr. Simpson enjoys spending time with her family—her husband and daughter—exploring different cities through food, trying new restaurants, collecting vintage jewelry pieces, exploring fashion styles, traveling internationally and domestically and supporting her daughter's interests in art projects, performing arts and digital arts.
