MAGDALENA, NM, September 19, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Randell Glen Major has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Major has established a distinguished career in the ranching industry, building upon a family legacy that dates back to 1887 in New Mexico. Born in Albuquerque, he was raised on a ranch and immersed in the business from an early age. His family later relocated to the Great Plains region, where his father purchased the ranch that had originally belonged to Mr. Major's great-grandfather. The property remained under family stewardship for more than a century, until financial challenges necessitated its sale. This experience profoundly influenced Mr. Major's approach to ranch management, particularly his commitment to maintaining minimal debt.

At approximately 22 years old, Mr. Major launched his venture in ranching, drawing on the lessons learned from his family's history. He began with 20 head of cattle and, through strategic trades and acquisitions, successfully accumulated three ranches across three counties in New Mexico. His goal is to consolidate these holdings within a single county for greater operational efficiency. Together with his wife, who contributes additional income as a nurse, Mr. Major has built their ranch from the ground up, taking pride in their healthy livestock and sound financial footing.

Since reviving Major Land & Cattle Co., Mr. Major has served as a rancher, overseeing all aspects of daily operations alongside his wife. His responsibilities include caring for livestock by ensuring they receive proper supplements and water, treating injured animals and maintaining fences to prevent cattle from straying onto neighboring properties. He is also responsible for managing the business side of the operation, from repairs to financial obligations. Mr. Major's expertise in cattle operations—particularly his knowledge of appropriate stocking numbers and adapting to New Mexico's unique climate—has been instrumental in sustaining and growing the business.

Recognizing the volatility of the cattle market and the impact of unpredictable weather patterns such as droughts, Mr. Major has emphasized the importance of diversification for modern ranchers. To supplement ranch income during challenging periods, he obtained a real estate license and expanded into selling ranches as a broker. This additional revenue stream has proven essential for navigating market fluctuations and rising interest rates.

Mr. Major's leadership extends beyond his enterprise through active involvement with industry organizations. He served as president of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association for two years, guiding local ranchers through pivotal times. Additionally, he contributed as finance chairman and as a member of the nominating committee for two years each within the association, supporting its mission since its founding by ranchers in 1914.

His professional achievements have been recognized with numerous honors, including being named Rancher of the Year by both the New Mexico Department of Agriculture and at the New Mexico State Fair. These accolades reflect his dedication to excellence in animal husbandry and land stewardship.

In addition to his practical experience, Mr. Major holds a high school diploma from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico. His formal education provided foundational skills that have supported his success in business management and agricultural operations. The knowledge gained from growing up in a ranching environment has further enabled him to understand local markets and adapt effectively to changing conditions.

Mr. Major is also an author, having published "We Were Cowboys" on December 29, 2024, a work that captures elements of his life and career in ranching.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Mr. Major enjoys golfing, hiking, horseback riding and hunting. He is dedicated to his family life with two daughters and two sons. Looking ahead, Mr. Major plans to continue operating his ranch while striving for greater organization and efficiency as he addresses ongoing priorities within his business.

Throughout his career, Mr. Major has demonstrated resilience, adaptability and a deep commitment to both tradition and innovation within the ranching industry, qualities that have earned him recognition among peers and inclusion in Marquis Who's Who.
