PLYMOUTH, MI, September 23, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Charles R. Ash has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Following an extensive tenure in high school education, Mr. Ash established an equally impactful career spanning more than three decades in the legal profession. As a senior partner and litigation attorney at Sommers Schwartz, PC in Southfield, Michigan, he dedicated nearly 35 years to practicing law before retiring. In his capacity, he conducted depositions and trials across various jurisdictions, specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice cases. His responsibilities included securing expert witnesses and managing complex litigation matters, all of which contributed to his reputation as an expert in these fields.

Prior to beginning his tenure at Sommers Schwartz, Mr. Ash devoted 17 years to teaching business education at the high school level. During this period, he attended law school in the evenings, balancing his commitment to educating students with his pursuit of a legal career. In addition to his primary role in the classroom, he served as president and chief negotiator of the teachers' union for 12 years — a role he considers among his most significant achievements. His efforts during this time underscored his dedication to advocacy and negotiation, skills that would later prove invaluable in his legal practice.

Mr. Ash's academic background laid a strong foundation for his professional accomplishments. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Eastern Michigan University in the early 1970s, followed by a teacher certification and a master's degree from the same institution. His time there was marked by notable athletic achievements, including receiving an athletic scholarship for wrestling, serving as a two-year captain of the wrestling team and individually securing second place in the Michigan Collegiate Tournament.

Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, Mr. Ash enhanced his education by obtaining a Juris Doctor from The Detroit College of Law, now known as Michigan State University College of Law. The rigorous coursework and training he received there enabled him to pass the bar examination while still teaching full-time. Upon his admission to the State Bar of Michigan, he was hired by one of his instructors at Sommers Schwartz, where he worked in the business litigation department for approximately two years before focusing primarily on personal injury cases. Additionally, he served as a prosecutor for a period of time, further broadening his legal expertise.

Outside of his primary roles, Mr. Ash has been actively involved in professional organizations as both a student and attorney. He held the position of vice president of the Theta Chi fraternity for two years and is a member of both the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association, which is now the Michigan Association for Justice, and the Michigan Education Association, reflecting his determination to make an impact through everything he does.

Happily married for 55 years and a proud father of one son and twin daughters, Mr. Ash enjoys fishing and traveling to Disney World with his family. Now retired, he looks forward to spending more time with his wife — who herself dedicated more than 40 years to teaching at the elementary level — and continuing their travels together. Marked by his leadership and dedication to service in both education and law, his legacy includes not only significant professional achievements but also meaningful contributions to those he has taught, represented and led throughout his distinguished life. Further, he enjoys spending time at his summer home, where he is able to spend time fishing and enjoying the company of his family.
