Dr. Tandon's illustrious career spans over four decades. He began as a research fellow and teaching assistant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi from 1975 to 1983. Upon relocating to the U.S., he joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio as an assistant professor of medical oncology between 1984 and 1991. There, he led seminal studies linking the protein HER2 to breast cancer, research that proved pivotal in the development of Genentech's Herceptin. He later served as Manager of Research and Development at BioGenex from 1991 to 1993.

In 1993, Dr. Tandon founded NeoMarkers Inc., which was later acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer until 2002. Dr. Tandon then led NeoBiomarkers Inc. as the President from 2005 to 2011 before taking on the role of Vice President of Technology and International Business Development at Biocare Medical LLC until 2013.

Dr. Tandon's academic foundation includes a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Lucknow, earned in 1975, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry with a focus on Reproductive Immunology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, completed in 1982. He also earned recognition as a gold medalist during his undergraduate studies in India.

Active in his professional community, Dr. Tandon is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, reflecting his dedication to staying at the forefront of advancements in cancer research. A prolific author, he has contributed over 60 international scientific publications and journals, further cementing his reputation as a thought leader in biotechnology. His dedication to advancing knowledge is matched by his philanthropy, including support for cancer organizations and his alma maters.

Dr. Tandon's legacy extends beyond his achievements, influencing future generations within both his family and the broader scientific community. His wife, Dr. Shobha Tandon, MD, PhD, is an accomplished Ophthalmologist who runs NeoVision Eye Center, a complete eye care and LASIK center in the Bay Area. Together, they have two daughters who have followed successful career paths; Anshul Kundani who serves as the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at NeoBiotechnologies, and Shefali Tandon Lumb, a biotech and life sciences attorney in Silicon Valley. Looking ahead, Dr. Tandon remains committed to expanding the global antibody supply and intends to continue his work indefinitely, with no plans to retire.
