MENIFEE, CA, September 29, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shelley D. Winn has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Winn has established herself as a leading expert in maternal health, dedicating more than 30 years to advancing the well-being of women and families in her community. Her professional journey is marked by a steadfast commitment to supporting healthy birth outcomes, a contribution she regards as her most significant achievement.

Since 2018, Ms. Winn has served as the director of the San Diego International Birthing Project. In this capacity, she engages directly with community women and mothers, recruits participants and volunteers, collaborates with local organizations, universities, nursing students and midwives, delivers presentations, manages referrals and intake calls, and oversees documentation and fieldwork. Ms. Winn's leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the organization's impact, particularly through her work as a doula. As such, she provides emotional and physical support to pregnant women, including pain management techniques and community referrals for those requiring additional mental health resources. Ms. Winn also supports both mother and father doulas, fostering effective teamwork within the organization.

Ms. Winn's association with the San Diego International Birthing Project began decades earlier when she joined as a participant while pregnant. Motivated by her own experiences and challenges during pregnancy, she transitioned into the role of health educator for the project. In this position, Ms. Winn provided vital education on maternal health topics to expectant mothers and their families, furthering her commitment to improving birth outcomes in the community.

In addition to her roles within the birthing project, Ms. Winn has worked extensively as a community doula. Her expertise in this area is widely recognized, as she offers comprehensive support throughout pregnancy and childbirth.

Ms. Winn's academic background has played a pivotal role in shaping her career. She earned a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and sciences from the University of Missouri in 2008. She also received a Master of Education from the University of Phoenix in 2011and a Master of Arts in Christian studies and leadership from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix in 2014. Additionally, Ms. Winn is a certified doula, a credential that underscores her professional expertise and commitment to best practices in maternal care.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Ms. Winn is civically engaged through volunteer work with grant finding for the San Diego International Birthing Project and participation with Habitat for Humanity. Her contributions have been recognized with several honors, including the San Diego Community Inspiration Award and the Harriet Tubman Award.

Throughout her career, Ms. Winn has attributed her success to determination and persistence. The challenges she faced as a pregnant woman inspired her to persevere and ensure that others would not have to endure similar hardships alone. This personal motivation continues to drive Ms. Winn's efforts to help women overcome obstacles related to pregnancy and childbirth.

Looking ahead, Ms. Winn aims to nurture volunteers within her organization so they may transition into broader community roles supporting women. Inspired by the encouragement she received throughout her own career, she seeks to recruit and promote more women into leadership positions while stabilizing the organization for continued success within the community. While considering retirement at some point in the future, Ms. Winn intends to remain active as a doula for as long as possible while cherishing time spent with her children as they continue their own journeys.
