Additionally, he collaborated with Metabolon, a company specializing in metabolomics, to create a diagnostic panel for detecting non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). This innovation replaced invasive liver biopsies and improved clinical trial outcomes.
Currently, Mr. Maske is a business development executive at Celanese, where he has been employed since 2021. In this role, he collaborates with pharmaceutical companies to market polymers designed for extended-release drug delivery. In addition to fulfilling his responsibilities at Celanese, he has been a life science business executive with DTM Life Science Advisors since 2020. His expertise in sales, business development, product development and biotechnology has been instrumental in his professional journey.
Mr. Maske began his career at Amresco, where he played a pivotal role in product and business development from 1991 to 1999. During this time, he contributed significantly to the groundbreaking Human Genome Project by supporting Applied Biosciences Inc., which was crucial in advancing human genome sequencing. Following this, he served as operations manager at Athersys from 1999 to 2003, further honing his skills.
In 2004, Mr. Maske transitioned to a civic role as an associate director at Midtown Cleveland Inc., where he dedicated himself to economic development until 2007. His efforts were instrumental in attracting technology incubators and companies to the Midtown area, fostering a thriving community. He then joined Ganeden Biotech as director of operations from 2007 to 2010 before moving on to DSM as a senior business development manager for drug delivery until 2016. From 2016 to 2019, Mr. Maske served as a business development executive at Metabolon Inc., followed by his role as senior vice president of sales and market development at LAVVAN until 2020.
Mr. Maske's professional affiliations include membership in the Eagles Club and past memberships in the Licensing Executives Society International and Midtown Cleveland Inc. His contributions have been recognized with the Governor's Art Award, recognition among the Top 25 in the State of Ohio, and numerous corporate awards, including sales awards and a president's award.
Mr. Maske completed coursework toward a Master of Business Administration from Cleveland State University, preceded by a Master of Arts in history and a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and history from Kent State University. His educational achievements have been foundational to his success in the pharmaceutical industry.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Maske has been actively involved in civic organizations such as United Cerebral Palsy, where he served as chair of the business advisory committee from 2001 to 2006. He has also volunteered with Ronald McDonald House and Jaycees (JC), demonstrating his dedication to community service.
Mr. Maske attributes his success to a profound sense of purpose shaped by the loss of his father to cancer, which occurred when Mr. Maske was 19 years old and studying chemistry in college. In his personal life, Mr. Maske enjoys boating, music, playing guitar, photography and traveling.
