In his role, he manages sales across North America and oversees a diverse range of markets for Kovalus, including electrocoat, the chemical industry, lithium brine processing, pharm biotechnology and industrial wastewater treatment. His expertise has been pivotal in implementing advanced filtration systems that deliver both cost savings and environmental benefits.

Among Dr. Rizzone's most notable professional achievements is his work at automotive assembly plants, where he has led the implementation of ultrafilters on the electrocoat lines. The ultrafilter system not only resulted in significant cost savings for the facility but also contributed to pollution prevention by ensuring that most undeposited paint is recovered by permeate rinsewater generated by the ultrafilter. He is particularly proud of this milestone as it reflects his longstanding commitment to being a positive influence on society and the environment.

Prior to joining Kovalus Separation Solutions, Dr. Rizzone was an industrial sales manager at Metcalf & Eddy from 1995 to 1996. In this role, he expanded his knowledge of water and wastewater treatment solutions and further developed his leadership skills within the industry. In 1994, he served as a water and waste sales manager at CUNO Separation Systems, where he managed key accounts and promoted innovative separation technologies.

Outside of his work in sales, Dr. Rizzone held the position of director of marketing at Sanborn Technologies from 1992 to 1994, during which he was responsible for developing marketing strategies and expanding the company's reach into new markets. His foundational experience includes serving as a market development manager, technical manager and senior research engineer at Romicon, Inc., where he played a pivotal role in introducing membrane filtration products to emerging sectors from 1984 to 1991.

Throughout his career, Dr. Rizzone has demonstrated a wide range of proficiency in sales, membrane filtration, chemical industry applications, pharmaceutical processes, biotechnology and wastewater management. His dedication to advancing these fields is further evidenced by his active membership in several organizations and societies, including the Electrocoat Association, Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Xi.

Dr. Rizzone's contributions to the electrocoating industry have been widely recognized by his peers. In 1997, he was nominated by colleagues to join the board of directors of the Electrocoat Association — a role he continues to hold today through multiple consecutive terms. He has served as president, vice president and past president of the association and is currently treasurer. Through this involvement, he has attended numerous conferences, delivered presentations and published papers that have significantly advanced industry standards while promoting environmentally responsible practices.

Hailing from an equally impressive academic background, Dr. Rizzone earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering in 1991 after completing a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1978 and graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1976, all from Tufts University. Determined to help students learn inside the classroom, he served as an instructor in process dynamics and control during his doctoral studies. Along with his education, he attributes much of his success to perseverance — a quality that has enabled him to navigate complex challenges and achieve sustained excellence throughout his career.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Rizzone has maintained a commitment to civic engagement through his ongoing service on the board of directors for the Electrocoat Association. In 2012, he was awarded the George Brewer award for market promotion of the electrocoat technology. He has also been recognized with an Employee Spotlight award for his exemplary work.
