FOLLY BEACH, SC, October 20, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wesley Moore III has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Marked by more than 40 years of service and creative achievement, Mr. Moore is recognized for an influential career in education and literature. Following a lengthy tenure as an educator and leader in the academic community, he has been enjoying the retired life since 2018.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Moore served as an English teacher at Porter-Gaud School in Charleston, South Carolina, for nearly 35 years. In this capacity, he was responsible for preparing lessons and developing assignments that encouraged critical thinking and a love of literature among his students. His commitment to excellence in teaching was further demonstrated during his eight-year term as chair of the English department at Porter-Gaud, where he provided leadership and guidance to faculty while shaping the school curriculum to meet the highest academic standards.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Moore taught at a community college, where he contributed to the educational development of students at the post-secondary level. Throughout each role, he demonstrated his dedication to fostering intellectual growth and supporting student achievement while continuing to grow as an educator.

Mr. Moore's own academic background includes a bachelor's degree in 1975, which provided a strong foundation for his teaching career and informed his approach to both classroom instruction and literary pursuits. He attributes much of his success to his unwavering dedication to teaching, which has been central to his professional accomplishments and ongoing creative work.

In addition to his four decades of contributions as an educator, Mr. Moore is an accomplished author. His debut novel, Today, Oh Boy (Austin Macauley, 2023), a comic tale of social upheaval set in South Carolina in 1970, was praised by Kirkus Reviews for its "dazzling characters" and described as "a quietly sublime period piece." Two years later, he published his memoir Long Ago Last Summer, which Kirkus called "a heartfelt, highly personal assortment of lived experiences and fictionalized accounts." In 2025, a short film inspired by Today, Oh Boy—Summerville 1970—premiered at the Terrace Theater in Charleston, South Carolina.

Mr. Moore's academic honors include the John E. Gibbs Faculty Award from Porter-Gaud School (1996) and a Teacher Tribute from Stanford University (2003). His fiction has twice been selected by the South Carolina Arts Commission Fiction Project, and he is a four-time winner of the Piccolo Spoleto Festival's Fiction Open contest. His story "Airwaves" was anthologized in Inheritance (Hub City Press), and his poem "Nassau Street Song" appeared in From the Green Horseshoe: Poems of James Dickey's Students (University of South Carolina Press).

Beyond writing, Mr. Moore also produces digital collages printed on canvas. Several hang in local restaurants. He is the father of two sons from his first marriage to the late Judy Birdsong and now lives on Folly Beach, South Carolina with his wife Caroline and stepdaughter Brooks. In retirement, he continues to pursue new creative projects across multiple disciplines.
