As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Recognized for his extensive expertise in research and valuation, Mr. Jackson has established a distinguished reputation over 55 years in financial services. He currently serves as the managing director at the expert witness firm SEDA Experts, where he is responsible for conducting in-depth research, evaluating valuations and guiding investment decisions on policy, strategic financial decisions and regulation matters. His approach emphasizes rigorous analysis and a commitment to integrity, ensuring that all of his recommendations are grounded in sound judgment.
Prior to joining SEDA Experts, Mr. Jackson was a managing member of Siridean Advisors LLC from 2008 to 2021. During his tenure, he provided strategic advisory services, leveraging decades of experience to assist ultra-high net worth clients with complex financial matters. His leadership at Siridean was marked by a focus on developing innovative solutions and fostering client relationships built on trust.
From 2002 to 2003, Mr. Jackson served as the global head of securities research at Credit Suisse First Boston — the culmination of two decades with the banking institution. Concurrently, from 1998 to 2003, he was also a member of the global equity management committee, contributing to the firm's overall strategy and direction in equity markets. For nearly 10 years, he held the position of global head of equities research, where he led teams across multiple regions and played a pivotal role in shaping the organization's research agenda.
From 1993 to 1994, Mr. Jackson was the European head of equities and global equity sales at Credit Suisse First Boston, overseeing operations and expanding the firm's presence in European markets. During the previous year, he served as the director of United States equity research, managing research initiatives and supporting investment decisions for institutional clients.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Jackson was the director of equity research at First Boston from 1985 to 1990. Under his leadership, the research department consistently ranked among the top three in the Institutional All-America Research poll and achieved either first or second place in the Greenwich Associates poll. He attributes these accomplishments to the strength and quality of his team, which he built through hands-on mentorship and a supportive environment.
Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Jackson has been recognized for his achievements and leadership with multiple accolades. He received the Elan Award from the International Card Manufacturers Association (ICMA) in 2001, an honor voted on by industry professionals for excellence and contributions to financial services. In 1982, while working as an analyst, he was ranked number one on the All-American Institutional Investor Team. Furthermore, he was named Best Research Director by Institutional Investor Magazine.
A hallmark of Mr. Jackson's legacy is his dedication to mentoring talented individuals and fostering their growth. He is particularly proud of building robust research departments where others could thrive under his guidance. His leadership style, often described as "managing by walking around," enabled him to maintain close connections with colleagues locally and globally. Among those he mentored is Bill Gurley, whom he discovered as a graduate student and helped launch into a successful career.
Mr. Jackson's steadfast commitment to honesty and integrity has been evident throughout his career. He consistently supported researchers and analysts who made principled decisions even when faced with pressure from investment bankers or financial incentives. Notably, he expressed early skepticism about Enron's business model during a conference presentation — a stance later validated by subsequent events — underscoring his adherence to ethical standards.
Before venturing onto his financial path, Mr. Jackson earned a Master of Business Administration in finance from Columbia Business School in 1969 after completing a Bachelor of Arts in economics at Columbia University in the City of New York in 1967. He was recognized on the dean's list for several years during his college tenure, reflecting his academic excellence and dedication to continuous learning. To augment his professional qualifications, he is certified as a chartered financial analyst.
Reflecting on his storied journey, Mr. Jackson attributes his achievements to hard work, intellectual curiosity and knowing when decisive action is required. Often traveling throughout Europe to connect with colleagues and understand diverse perspectives, he values unique insights gained through consistent growth and meaningful relationships developed across cultures. This collaborative approach encourages independence while providing steadfast support for those in need.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Jackson is civically engaged as a volunteer mentor with Reading for America, which nurturers a love of reading among children and teenagers across the United States. Born in New York City, he enjoys reading books and spending quality time with his wife of 25 years, their four children and eight grandchildren.
