Mr. Melendez has established a distinguished career as an impact filmmaker, fine art photographer and music composer, with a focus on projects that address pressing social and environmental issues. Since 2013, he has served as a freelance communications consultant and film director with Heartisan Films, where he has led and contributed to numerous initiatives designed to inspire societal change. His work is characterized by a commitment to supporting movements that seek to shift behaviors within large communities, particularly in the realms of environmental protection and social justice.
In addition to his filmmaking achievements, Mr. Melendez is also recognized for his work as a fine art photographer through AntonioMelendez.org since 2001. Mr. Melendez's talents extend into music composition for films, concerts and independent distribution. He partners with musical charities across South America, Brazil, Mexico and Europe to raise funds and provide students with opportunities to perform on stage alongside him. His current musical project "Remembrance" is an example of his ability to evoke emotion and reflection with his piano and compositions.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Melendez served in the United States Coast Guard in 1999, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to service. He is an active member of Oregon Media Producers and Film Southern Oregon, reflecting his engagement with industry peers and ongoing professional development.

These academic experiences have provided a strong foundation for his multifaceted career in communications and the arts.
Mr. Melendez holds certifications as a lifeguard and an ordained minister. He attributes his success to determination, openness, sensitivity, empathy, a rebellious spirit and nonconformity—qualities that have fueled his desire to serve others. He describes this motivation as an "upward spiral," where gratitude for life's experiences inspires further acts of giving.
Throughout his career, Mr. Melendez has received over 20 film festival awards for "Gorilla Girl," further establishing his reputation for excellence in filmmaking. His civic involvement includes volunteering as a mentor for indigenous journalists and young storytellers through the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB), providing equipment and resources for community media projects, and supporting children in hospitals through Win Win Charity.
