BONNEY LAKE, WA, October 27, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Terrence D. Brooks has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Captivating audiences worldwide over the course of nearly 50 years, Mr. Brooks has led a highly accomplished career as an author. Having sold more than 25 million copies of his works in print, he has become renowned for his contributions to the fantasy genre, consistently producing stories that have resonated with readers and earned their loyalty. His literary journey began in earnest after the publication of "The Sword of Shannara" in 1977, an epic fantasy novel that soon became a trilogy and set the stage for a prolific writing career.

Mr. Brooks has authored numerous acclaimed and bestselling works, including the six-volume "The Magic Kingdom of Landover" series, the "Viridian Deep" trilogy — renowned for its expert blend of imagination and reality — and "The Word & the Void," a fantastical tale of science fiction, family drama and enlightenment.

In addition to his original publications, Mr. Brooks has contributed to multiple major media franchises. He was personally selected by George Lucas to write the novelization of "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace" in 1999 and also penned the accompanying release for the Steven Spielberg-directed movie "Hook" in 1991.

Though his writing journey counts many milestones, Mr. Brooks is particularly proud of his enduring impact on readers, as evidenced by the heartfelt responses he continues to receive. He attributes much of his success to being prepared when opportunities arose as well as guidance from influential figures such as his editor Lester Del Rey, who encouraged him to fill a gap in fantasy literature following the era of J.R.R. Tolkien. Reflecting on his career with gratitude, he considers each of his books a testament to his dedication and passion for storytelling.

Equally devoted to sharing his knowledge, lessons and experiences with aspiring fiction authors and future generations of storytellers, Mr. Brooks published an acclaimed memoir and writing guide titled "Sometimes the Magic Works" in 2004.

Prior to dedicating himself fully to writing, Mr. Brooks practiced law for nearly two decades. His legal career provided him with valuable skills in discipline and critical thinking, which later informed his approach to structuring complex narratives and managing the demands of a professional writing life.

Mr. Brooks' academic background includes a Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University and a bachelor's degree in English literature from Hamilton College. His early education was marked by inspiring teachers who fostered his appreciation for literature and reading. These formative experiences — along with influence of William Faulkner — played a significant role in shaping his commitment to storytelling. Although he did not find the same encouragement during his college years, he persevered and was prepared to seize opportunities in the literary world despite dealing with initial rejections.

With his passion for writing emerging at an early age, Mr. Brooks began crafting stories at 10 years old and achieved his first publication at 13 with an article on Abraham Lincoln's death that was featured in the Illinois Historical Journal. This accomplishment, part of a state competition in Illinois, solidified his resolve to pursue writing as a lifelong vocation.

In the coming years, Mr. Brooks intends to devote more of his time to reading — a pursuit that was often set aside due to the demands of his writing schedule. He currently collaborates with writer Delilah Dawson, offering guidance as she embarks on her own series, but has expressed no desire to return to writing himself. He values knowing when to step away from the spotlight, believing it is important to preserve one's legacy by concluding a career at its height.

Mr. Brooks' journey exemplifies his dedication, resilience and unwavering passion for storytelling — qualities that have secured his place among the most respected figures in contemporary fantasy literature as his works continue to delight readers around the world.
