A key aspect of Mr. Loughney's role involves standardizing product development procedures and implementing innovative tools such as artificial intelligence and advanced information technology resources to optimize processes. The products under his management are integral to large-scale plant operations, with life cycle costs ranging from approximately $10 million to $2 billion. His most notable professional achievement is the strategic expansion of the hydrogen product portfolio and the scaling of his team to meet global demands.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Loughney dedicated 17 years to project management, overseeing the construction of industrial plants worldwide. His work took him across China, Korea, Europe, the United States, Canada and Taiwan. During this period, he also held a commercial role as a salesperson in Europe, selling industrial gas plants while residing in Weybridge, Surrey, England. These experiences provided him with a broad international perspective and deepened his expertise in both technical project execution and commercial operations.

Mr. Loughney's academic foundation includes a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Bucknell University. He attributes much of his professional success to his upbringing in a working-class family in Pittston, Pennsylvania, where strong family role models instilled values of perseverance and dedication that have guided his career trajectory.

Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Loughney is actively engaged in civic initiatives. He has volunteered with United Way and participated in Air Products' outreach and volunteering program by contributing maintenance and painting services at local zoos and assisting with renovations at children's camps.
