Mr. Borgesen currently serves as program manager at Airbus US Space and Defense Inc., a position he has held since 2025. In this capacity, he focuses on the execution of manufacturing processes and the delivery of products to customers, with a particular emphasis on improving output and reducing costs. Mr. Borgesen's expertise in managing contracts with development agencies has been instrumental in streamlining product lines and enhancing delivery efficiency within the organization.
Before joining Airbus US Space and Defense Inc., Mr. Borgesen was affiliated with Blue Origin from 2021 to 2025, initially as a production control specialist. He then served as a manufacturing operations leader, where he continued to build upon his previous accomplishments by optimizing manufacturing workflows and supporting the company's ambitious aerospace initiatives. Mr. Borgesen then transitioned into the role of manager of manufacturing operations and assembly at Blue Origin from 2024 to 2025. During his tenure, he most notably led the insourcing of highly specialized metal forming and welding processes, including spin forming and bellows forming for aerospace components. Despite industry skepticism and limited global expertise, Mr. Borgesen successfully brought these capabilities in-house, enabling production for the organization's New Glenn rocket and lunar program. This achievement laid the foundation for scalable manufacturing and contributed significantly to the company's mission.
While at Blue Origin, Mr. Borgesen was invited to serve as an independent consultant for Dialectica, a firm that connects companies with industry experts. He spent about two years advising on various aerospace and defense projects related to insourcing. Mr. Borgesen's role involved monthly consultations where he assessed client needs and provided detailed recommendations based on his extensive experience.
In addition to his work in the private sector, Mr. Borgesen held the role of contracts manager in procurement at Pluralsight in 2021, where he was responsible for negotiating agreements and managing supplier relationships. From 2017 to 2021, he was the supply chain manager at the Naval Ordnance Test Unit, overseeing logistics operations that supported national defense objectives.
Mr. Borgesen's professional journey is rooted in his distinguished military service. He served as a logistics specialist in the U.S. Navy from 2013 to 2021, including an assignment aboard the USS Pittsburgh SSN 720.
Mr. Borgesen's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in logistics, materials and supply chain management from Purdue Global in 2021 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida in 2024. He further enhanced his expertise by earning certification in strategically managing business, public affairs and public policy from The Washington Campus in 2024. These academic achievements have been integral to Mr. Borgesen's ability to lead complex projects and drive innovation within the aerospace sector.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Borgesen is committed to civic engagement through volunteer work with Hire Heroes USA and the Military Officers Association of America.
Throughout his military career, Mr. Borgesen demonstrated exceptional leadership and operational acumen, earning five Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medals and being recognized as Sailor of the Quarter and Junior Sailor of the Quarter. He also maintained a perfect academic record during his service and received recognition for superior achievements during a supply chain management inspection.
Mr. Borgesen attributes his success to a deep desire to make a lasting impact, motivated by the belief that meaningful contributions should endure beyond one's lifetime and help improve society as a whole. After high school, he explored various educational paths before joining the U.S. Navy in search of purpose. Mr. Borgesen's military experiences refocused his ambitions toward contributing to greater causes, ultimately leading him to aerospace, a field whose mission resonated deeply with him.
Looking ahead, Mr. Borgesen plans to return to advanced manufacturing work by establishing a local company specializing in producing highly complex aerospace components. He is also passionate about mentoring future skilled tradespeople to revive critical expertise that has diminished since the decommissioning of NASA's shuttle program. This commitment is reinforced by Mr. Borgesen's experience at Blue Origin, emphasizing both capability-building and talent cultivation within advanced manufacturing fields.
