Mrs. Tomasso currently serves as an AI consultant and founder of Monic AI Systems, a boutique agency based in Washington, D.C., specializing in ethical, human-in-the-loop artificial intelligence and digital transformation. Established in 2025, the firm helps organizations integrate AI into their daily operations — from workflow automation and analytics to customer engagement and strategic growth. Monic AI Systems is recognized for developing responsible, adaptive AI solutions that align seamlessly with each client's existing technology stack, ensuring adoption is efficient, sustainable, and results-driven. She is also pursuing professional certification in artificial intelligence and data consulting to advance her firm's applied AI expertise.
Prior to founding Monic AI Systems, Mrs. Tomasso was a global product manager lead at BP p.l.c. from 2023 to 2025. During her tenure, she navigated a period of significant organizational change as the company shifted its focus from oil and gas drilling to renewable energy under a previous chief executive officer, resulting in a notable decline in profits. The subsequent return to drilling under new leadership led to the transfer of many jobs to India, impacting employees worldwide. Despite these challenges, Mrs. Tomasso contributed to global product management initiatives and held multiple roles during her two years with the company.
In 2021, Mrs. Tomasso worked as a senior strategy consultant specializing in software products, strategy, and data at NTT DATA Group Corporation. In this capacity, she collaborated with Kantar, a leading consumer packaged goods company, on trade promotion management projects. Her expertise in product development and data-driven solutions was instrumental in supporting client objectives.
From 2018 to 2021, Mrs. Tomasso was involved in vendor management for grocery software products, data insights and strategy with the Government of the District of Columbia. She played a key role in supporting the Women, Infants and Children program during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping address the challenges families faced in accessing essential groceries.
Earlier in her career, Mrs. Tomasso spent more than a decade with ExxonMobil Corporation, beginning with Mobil Oil in 1994 and continuing through the merger. Between 2000 and 2005, she worked in category management, data strategy, and promotions, later advancing to Senior Consultant for Loyalty and Growth Strategy from 2013 to 2015. Her 13-year tenure at ExxonMobil provided a foundation in data systems, product management, and customer insights that shaped her future leadership in technology and innovation.
A three-time entrepreneur, Mrs. Tomasso founded Health-e-Lunch Kids, Inc. in 2005, a groundbreaking e-commerce platform — years before food delivery services existed. Its technology foreshadowed the future of on-demand food delivery and positioned Mrs. Tomasso as an early pioneer in digital consumer innovation. The business was recognized in the "Make Mine A Million" program and featured on the Rachael Ray Show, as well as in local news segments with Eun Yang from NBC Primetime. Health e-Lunch Kids Inc. was also highlighted in Inc. Magazine for its innovative business strategy and was included in a major USA Today feature on e-commerce innovations. The company's business idea placed as the second runner-up in the Carolina Challenge.
Notably, Mrs. Tomasso's entrepreneurial achievements earned her the Count Me In Award for Health e-Lunch Kids Business Concept, the Entrepreneur of the Year with Outstanding Business Leadership from the SMB Association and a win in a national competition sponsored by American Express.
Following Health-e-Lunch Kids in 2012, Mrs. Tomasso continued to advance innovation and entrepreneurship by working with start-ups and founders across the 1776 incubator and Washington, D.C.'s entrepreneur ecosystem, helping emerging companies develop go-to-market strategies and digital products to scale their impact. She also contributed to media and technology ventures, including the launch of digital screens in high-traffic public locations throughout the D.C. metro area that later expanded nationwide, and the development of social media platforms that connected audiences for shared television experiences.
Mrs. Tomasso's academic background includes a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School in 2005. She holds a Master of Science in Management Information Systems Technology from The George Washington University in 1999, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from American University. Mrs. Tomasso has also obtained several certifications, including Python for Managers (Columbia Business School, 2021), Data Science Orientation (edX, 2022), and Querying with Transact-SQL (edX, 2022).
Reflecting on her career, Mrs. Tomasso credits her success to resilience, adaptability, and a steadfast commitment to education. Her adaptability and drive propelled her to excel at a Fortune 5 company and later as an entrepreneur. By age 30, she had earned three degrees and had achieved significant professional milestones while navigating personal challenges that strengthened her resilience and strategic mindset. As a resource-conscious and empathetic leader, Mrs. Tomasso champions a human-in-the-loop approach, ensuring her company operates with empathy and care for both people and the planet.
Outside her professional pursuits, Mrs. Tomasso has been an advocate for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) awareness since 2004, a cause deeply personal to her following her mother's battle with the disease. She finds joy in exploring the world alongside her son — whether through travel, science experiments, or weekend soccer games. Together they share a love of discovery that mirrors her own curiosity about technology and the human spirit. She continues to study emerging AI technologies with the same sense of wonder she encourages in him, believing that innovation and imagination go hand-in-hand.
