Under his leadership, JodyJazz has become one of the top four mouthpiece companies worldwide, a milestone that stands as his most notable achievement and underscores his global influence in the field.

In addition to his role at JodyJazz, Mr. Espina is the owner of Chedeville, a position he continues to hold. He is also the owner of Rousseau Mouthpieces and Rousseau Music Products, where he applies his expertise to advance further the quality and reputation of these brands within the industry.

Before these entrepreneurial ventures, Mr. Espina was director of the jazz department at Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale, New York. In this capacity, he contributed significantly to the development of young musicians and the growth of the school's jazz program. He additionally served as an adjunct professor at Concordia College, where he shared his knowledge and passion for music with students pursuing higher education.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Espina performed with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra under Tommy Dorsey Productions Inc., gaining valuable stage experience and further honing his craft as a professional jazz musician. His background in performance has been instrumental in shaping his approach to both music education and product design.

Mr. Espina's professional affiliations reflect his standing in the industry. He is a member of AFM Local 802, the National Association of Music Merchandisers and the National Association of School Music Dealers. These memberships have provided him with opportunities to collaborate with peers and stay informed about developments in the music business.

His academic foundation was established at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in jazz music performance and woodwind performance, graduating magna cum laude in 1983. This rigorous education provided him with both technical proficiency and artistic insight, which have been critical to his success as a performer, educator and entrepreneur. Mr. Espina attributes his achievements to his background as a professional player, his obsession with design, quality, and consistency in manufacturing, a dedicated team capable of meeting these standards, and a commitment to treating every customer with the utmost respect.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Espina is civically engaged as a supporter of the Savannah Jazz Festival, reflecting his dedication to fostering community and cultural enrichment through music.

His accomplishments have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Best in Show Award from the National Association of Music Merchandisers in 2022, the Excalibur Award from the Technology Association of Georgia in 2012, the Excellence Award from Music Inc. Magazine in 2012 and the Best of New York for musical instrument stores from NYC.com Inc. in 2008. He has also been inducted into the Hall of Fame at both the Savannah Jazz Festival and Hillsborough High School.
