In addition to her leadership at StartLinkVenture, Ms. Montmean is a senior venture scout and venture institute member at LvlUp Ventures, a position she began in 2025. Concurrently, she acts as a fundraising consultant and strategist for a number of web3, AI and tech companies in Silicon Valley and worldwide where she advises on capital-raising strategies and investor relations.
Her experience in global business development was honed during her tenure as a global business development manager at Hawkish Capital in Hong Kong from 2023 to 2024. There, she was responsible for expanding the firm's international presence and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders.
Ms. Montmean's career in finance began at JPMorgan (London and New York offices), where she held several positions over nearly a decade. From 2021 to 2023, she was vice president of syndicated and leveraged finance (New York), overseeing complex financing transactions for corporate clients. Prior to this tenure, she worked as an associate in acquisition and leveraged finance from 2018 to 2021 (London), supporting mergers and acquisitions through debt structuring and capital raising. Her earlier roles at JPMorgan included serving as an investment banking analyst from 2015 to 2018, during which she gained foundational experience in financial analysis and deal execution.
Earlier in her career she worked in M&A at Lazard and BNP Paribas in the Paris office.
Throughout her career, Ms. Montmean has been recognized for her achievements and thought leadership. In 2025, The Village Voice featured her in "Tanya Montmean: Redefining Access and Equity in Venture Capital," and she was awarded a merit scholarship from the Hult International Business School. She is an active member of Financial Women of San Francisco, serves on the board of the Founders Running Club and is involved with Women of Founders Bay.
Ms. Montmean's academic background includes a Global MBA in analytics from the Hult International Business School in 2025, where she was awarded the Best Peer Award for her collaborative spirit and leadership among peers. She earned a master's degree in corporate finance, cum laude, from SDA Bocconi in Milan in 2014. Her commitment to continuous learning is reflected in numerous certifications, including from Coursera, Google Cloud, DataCamp, CFA, FCA and FINRA.
Ms. Montmean attributes her success to a strong belief in the value of failure as a catalyst for growth and creativity. She credits her years on Wall Street, primarily with JPMorgan in London and New York, where she specialized in mergers and acquisitions project finance within debt capital markets, for shaping her client-focused approach. Her passion for building relationships led her to entrepreneurship after more than 10 years in investment banking.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Montmean is civically engaged as a mentor with Women in Banking and participates as a runner for various charitable causes.
