DALLAS, TX, November 18, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bettina Beatrice Wright has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having dedicated more than three decades to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, Ms. Wright has led a remarkable career in public service. Since joining the agency in January 1989, she has served as a senior tax auditor, demonstrating exceptional expertise in state tax laws and accounting. Her role requires her to work closely with a diverse array of professionals including office managers, controllers, vice presidents, presidents and company officers.
Drawn to the accounting realm for its versatility across industries and company sizes, Ms. Wright has found great satisfaction in supporting businesses while ensuring tax compliance within reasonable timeframes. Her role demands not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills, as she regularly interacts with clients conducting business at all levels both within Texas and beyond its borders.
Additionally, Ms. Wright collaborates with lawyers and certified public accountants within her agency as well as those from leading accounting and tax firms. This collaborative environment has allowed her to build strong professional relationships, even when working with consultants who may represent opposing interests. She values the camaraderie and mutual respect that arise from these interactions, considering them a significant advantage of her position.
Throughout her tenure, Ms. Wright has worked under six different comptrollers, each emphasizing proficiency and compliance. She is recognized for her ability to conduct audits effectively and efficiently — qualities that are particularly notable in government service. Her approach centers on working simply, quickly and smartly, which has earned her a reputation for adeptness both within the organization and among external partners. Taking great pride in her skills and expertise, she understands that success in government is best measured by effectiveness rather than traditional rankings.
Ms. Wright's commitment to continued professional growth is further reflected in her active membership in organizations such as Executive Women of Texas Government, the Black American Comptroller Employees Association and the Baylor University Women's Council. Each of these affiliations have provided her with opportunities to connect with other professionals and contribute to the advancement of women and minority representation in government.
Before beginning her career as a tax auditor, Ms. Wright pursued higher education at The University of Texas at Arlington, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in 1988. Attributing much of her success to her faith and determination — qualities instilled in her from an early age — she believes that perseverance through challenges leads to a greater appreciation for one's work and builds long-term resilience.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Wright is also committed to community service. She is involved with the Gospel Music Workshop of America Inc., participates in the Parent Teacher Association, volunteers for neighborhood cleanup initiatives and supports various charitable organizations as a donor. In addition to her professional and civic pursuits, she enjoys playing softball, participating in aerobics and Pilates classes, cooking, attending church services and meeting new people.
Born in Galveston, Texas, Ms. Wright finds great joy in her family life. She is the proud mother of two sons — both of whom are Baylor University alumni and excelled as collegiate athletes — and cherishes the experiences they shared during their academic journeys. One of her sons has given her a grandson, with whom she cherishes spending time.
In the coming years, Ms. Wright envisions stepping away from her service with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts to embrace new roles within her family and community. She intends to devote more time to volunteering while supporting her loved ones — especially her grandson — and hopes to continue making meaningful contributions beyond her accomplished journey in public service.
