Since 2025, he has served as an environmental health and safety specialist at Vertiv, where he inspects field services personnel to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. In this capacity, he assists field staff with on-site needs and challenges, conducts training sessions on critical safety topics and provides both refresher courses and first-time training as required. He is also responsible for delivering CPR and first aid instruction to field personnel. His technical expertise extends to building and maintaining units that power and cool essential business systems, operating and servicing equipment supporting server infrastructure, implementing advanced cooling solutions from liquid to air cooling, customizing power and cooling systems based on client requirements and ensuring reliable system performance to prevent overheating and downtime.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Westlund was a customer service project coordinator at Vertiv from 2023 to 2025, where he coordinated projects supporting customer needs in the technology sector. In 2023, he worked as a project coordinator for Nesco Resource, managing workflow processes and supporting project delivery. From 2021 to 2023, he held the position of workflow coordinator at Williams Lea, following his tenure as a document processing specialist from 2020 to 2021.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Westlund served as assistant manager at Covelli Enterprises in 2020 after working as delivery manager from 2019 to 2020. He also led security teams at Imperial Security in 2019 and managed dispatch operations as dispatcher and lead driver for Panera Bread under Covelli Enterprises from 2017 to 2019. His expertise in environmental health and safety was further demonstrated during his time as an environmental health safety and risk management consultant with EngagedSafety Solutions from 2016 to 2018. His leadership experience includes serving as mobile disc jockey for T.E.A.M. DJ from 2007 to 2012 and citizen corps coordinator for FirstLink from 2006 to 2008.
Mr. Westlund's military service is a cornerstone of his professional journey. As a retired lieutenant commander in the United States Coast Guard, he was recognized for his exceptional skills as a rescue swimmer—trained to jump from helicopters into turbulent seas of up to 90 feet to save individuals in distress—and later as an instructor due to his expertise. Throughout his Coast Guard career, he participated in every major national disaster response since Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and spent eight years stationed in Barrow, Alaska at the northernmost point of continental North America, experiencing the unique extremes of Arctic daylight and darkness. His dedication extended beyond emergency response; he played a pivotal role in environmental health and safety training for recruits and colleagues.
In addition to his primary roles, Mr. Westlund has contributed significantly as a team member of the Franklin County Community Emergency Response Team since 2005, an active participant with Central Ohio Amateur Radio Emergency Services since 1998, an instructor trainer with the American Red Cross since 1997, an audio describer for blind or visually impaired individuals through Accessible Arts Inc. since 1991, a workplace education coordinator with the American Red Cross from 2003 to 2005 and a sign language interpreter for the Ohio School for the Deaf.
Mr. Westlund's professional affiliations reflect his commitment to industry advancement and community service. He is a member of the Westerville Citizen Auxiliary Resource Team (C.A.R.T), the American Society of Safety Professionals, the Project Management Institute, the National Fire Protection Association since 2014, the Institute for Safety & Health Management since 2013 and the Westerville Lions Club since 2007. He also holds lifetime membership with the American Radio Relay League - W8AJW.
Mr. Westlund's academic background includes a bachelor's degree in business administration with a minor in e-business from the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona, earned in 2005, and a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering technology from DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio, completed in 1991. These educational achievements have provided him with foundational knowledge that supports his multifaceted career.

In his personal life, Mr. Westlund enjoys teaching sailing and stand-up paddle boarding, scuba diving, crocheting and creating Bob Ross technique paintings as art therapy.
