SIMPSONVILLE, SC, November 25, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rami Al Idrissi has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Al Idrissi has established himself as a leading expert in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), control systems for energy management in renewable energy, operational networking and cybersecurity for critical infrastructure. In his current capacity as senior SCADA and controls engineer at Leeward Renewable Energy since 2025, he is responsible for ensuring that control systems for wind, solar and battery storage assets perform according to rigorous standards. He serves as a subject matter expert in both control systems and SCADA, advising on cybersecurity and supporting industrial networks vital to the company's operations. His role involves close collaboration with operations teams to identify anomalies, analyze data trends and develop solutions that address complex technical challenges. He also ensures that new projects are implemented in accordance with industry standards, with a focus on integrating operational technology specific to SCADA controls and securing these systems from a cybersecurity perspective.
In addition to his work at Leeward Renewable Energy, Mr. Al Idrissi is the owner and founding member of RF Defense Solutions, a startup he launched in 2025. At this venture, he conducts research on radio frequency technology for cybersecurity devices, a field he has been investigating since completing his master's program. He is currently developing a patent for an innovative device designed to address vulnerabilities in radio frequency systems, with plans to publish his research and implement it through his company. This invention stands as one of his proudest achievements, reflecting extensive research, modeling and simulation to ensure its practical application.
From 2021 to 2025, Mr. Al Idrissi served as SCADA Manager at Avangrid Renewables, where he was instrumental in developing the first commercial offshore wind farm in the United States. His leadership was critical in achieving the project's initial power milestone—a success formally recognized by Vineyard Wind's deputy chief executive officer in a report to Avangrid's board, crediting three key individuals, including Mr. Idrissi. During this period, he demonstrated exceptional problem-solving capabilities, resolving complex challenges that had stalled progress, such as diagnosing and correcting performance issues while ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards.
Prior to this, Mr. Al Idrissi was lead SCADA and controls engineer at GE Renewable Energy from 2015 to 2021. In this position, he led engineering efforts for onshore renewable projects across the United States, focusing on integrating advanced SCADA solutions for wind energy assets. Between 2012 and 2015, he held the role of instrumentation and controls engineering team lead at GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy in Canada. There, he supported nuclear engineering initiatives for power stations, contributing to critical infrastructure projects that demanded high levels of technical proficiency and attention to safety protocols.
From 2008 to 2012, Mr. Al Idrissi worked as a control systems engineer at The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation. He was responsible for implementing and supporting SCADA and control systems engineering across various projects associated with the seaway's locks and bridges along the Great Lakes. His work focused on implementing innovative new technologies, such as hands free mooring, and enhancing equipment performance, such as bridges, through systematic troubleshooting and upgrades conducted during seasonal maintenance periods.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Al Idrissi spent three years as reliability maintenance engineer at Resolute Forest Products from 2005 to 2008 in Thorold, Ontario. He executed small-scale projects aimed at automating processes and improving outdated machinery within the paper mill environment, opportunities that provided him with valuable hands-on experience early in his profession. He began his professional career as an electrical engineer at Cascades from 2003 to 2005, where he contributed to maintenance engineering efforts within the manufacturing sector.
Mr. Al Idrissi's academic background has been foundational to his success. He earned a Master of Science in cybersecurity with a specialization in cyber-physical systems from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta in 2023, graduating with a perfect grade point average of 4.0. This advanced degree provided him with deep expertise in the engineering aspects of operational networks and the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure such as power stations, knowledge that has directly impacts his work. He also holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, completed in 1999.
Demonstrating his belief that learning is an ongoing process, Mr. Al Idrissi has further enhanced his qualifications through several certifications: Simulink Model Management and Architecture from MathWorks, project management professional certification training from Simplilearn, wind energy coursework through Coursera Course Certificates and professional engineer designation from Professional Engineers Ontario. Throughout his career, he has maintained active membership in several professional organizations including IEEE, IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) and Professional Engineers Ontario.
Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Al Idrissi is an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a distinguished veterans' organization dedicated to supporting former service members and their families, preserving military history, and promoting remembrance through community programs and charitable activities. He has also contributed to community service through General Electric Company initiatives, participating in food distribution programs and engaging in hands-on projects to repair offices and facilities that support less fortunate communities. He attributes much of his professional growth to the unwavering support of his wife, who managed their household while he balanced full-time work with graduate studies—often raising their three daughters during periods when he was required to travel or relocate for work assignments across North America.
In his personal life, Mr. Al Idrissi enjoys going to the gym, woodworking, and undertaking home improvement projects. He remains dedicated to advancing research into securing cyber-physical assets, particularly addressing vulnerabilities present in legacy devices used throughout critical infrastructure sectors.
Looking ahead, Mr. Al Idrissi aims to continue developing innovative solutions that enhance security within operational technological environments, focusing on mitigating risks associated with radio frequency exposures that have not yet been fully addressed by conventional cybersecurity measures.
