Authored by veteran early childhood educator Sandra Murtha-Haggerty and illustrated by artist Sara Halvorsen, "Snowy The Cooler Snowman," a story told in rhyme, brings entertainment and speech therapeutics together in a charming story about friendship, imagination, determination, and the joy of turning a lofty idea into reality.

"The idea for this book has been a long time coming," said Murtha-Haggerty today. "Working as a Speech Pathologist with young children for over 25 years has afforded me the opportunity to read many books. I've also seen technology begin to infringe upon and take time away from book reading, which is such an important part of early childhood learning, particularly for kids who have speech development challenges. With repetition being a critical component of speech development, I wanted to create a character and story that both children and adults would enjoy reading over and over again. And, of course, I hope they'll look forward to future Snowy adventures to come."

"Snowy The Cooler Snowman" is beautifully illustrated in rich color and detail by artist Sara Halvorsen, whose artistic vision gave Snowy a unique snowman appearance.

Halvorsen was animated today as she commented on her work, saying, "When Sandra first told me about Snowy, I was excited for the opportunity to create a face to match his sweet personality and to differentiate him from other snowman characters – hence, the overly long hat and scarf. I loved bringing Snowy and his unique, caring group of friends to life in this story, which is so much fun to read."

Author Sandra Murtha-Haggerty is a passionate storyteller who loves sparking young readers' imagination and curiosity. She has backgrounds in speech pathology and acting, drawing inspiration from childhood memories and everyday adventures with her three boys. When not writing, Sandra works full-time as a children's speech pathologist. She enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her three dogs, and building and creating Halloween haunted houses.

About the Illustrator
Illustrator Sara Halvorsen has loved art her entire life, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at LIU Post. She is an illustrator who creates vibrant, playful illustrations that ignite imagination and bring characters to life for young readers. In her spare time, Sara enjoys expressing her creativity through a variety of media, including sewing her own wacky clothes and painting on her face.
