Dr. Elham Neisani Samani is a physician–scientist, educator, and global women's health advocate. She is a co-founder of the Organization of Middle Eastern Girls and Women, a non-profit dedicated to empowering girls and women to pursue higher education, advance their careers, and develop strong leadership skills. She has also collaborated extensively with community-based groups, including Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS), supporting refugees and displaced individuals as they build new lives, achieve self-sufficiency, and integrate into their communities.
Dr. Samani has long been a champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion. She has led successful initiatives to improve the recruitment and retention of underrepresented minorities in academic programs and continues to mentor students from diverse backgrounds. As an internationally published author and speaker, she delivers professional and personal development workshops across the world.
Originally from Iran, Dr. Samani completed her medical degree and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. She then served in Naghan, a small mountain village in western Iran, as a health systems and quality improvement advisor for three community hospitals. Despite limited resources and modest compensation, she describes this time as a transformative experience that shaped her commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in marginalized and underserved communities.
Since beginning her career, Dr. Samani has been deeply involved in clinical care, research, education, and administrative leadership, while mentoring numerous medical students and trainees. In 2013, she moved to the United States as a postdoctoral research fellow in Dr. Hugh S. Taylor's laboratory at Yale University, where she conducted basic science research on endometriosis presented at the 2015 American Society for Reproductive Medicine annual meeting.
Dr. Samani is widely recognized as a dedicated advocate for her patients and a leader in international women's health. She has been honored by multiple organizations for her contributions to medicine, research, and global health equity.
In 2025, she began serving as a manuscript reviewer for Reproductive BioMedicine Online, where she evaluates scientific submissions and contributes to the advancement of reproductive science literature. She also holds the role of educator with Residency Success, sharing her expertise with aspiring medical professionals and guiding them through the complexities of medical training.
Dr. Neisani Samani's professional affiliations reflect her commitment to advancing women's health care and research initiatives. Since 2018, she has been chief of Persian Women's Health, advocating for improved health care access and education within the community. She is also an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Reproductive Investigation.
Along with her education, Dr. Neisani Samani credits her achievements to the encouragement and support she receives from her parents, sisters, husband, patients, friends and mentors. Her contributions to the field of reproductive health as a clinician, researcher and student have seen her recognized with several honors including the International Award for Women's Health in 2021 and a scholarship from Yale School of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Samani received several international award including the resident award for excellence in reproductive endocrinology and infertility in 2024.
Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Neisani Samani is deeply involved in civic and humanitarian engagement. Since 2018, she has participated in training and consultation initiatives supporting disaster response and humanitarian relief efforts. She is also a developing poet, using writing as a creative outlet to advocate for healing, resilience, and women's voices. Her commitment to serving others includes roles as an ambassador for Mindfulness First, an advocate for the American Red Cross Greater New York, and a volunteer with Doctors Without Borders.
Dr. Neisani Samani's scholarly output includes numerous scientific works that have been published in influential journals such as Stem Cells, Oncotarget and the Taylor & Francis Group. In total, she has contributed 30 publications related to scientific literature and reproductive medicine. She is the co-author of "The Reference Book for Family Planning," and also contributed to the book chapter "Endometrial Factor: A Reproductive Precision Medicine Approach." In addition, she is set to contribute a chapter to The Future Female Leader, a forthcoming book by Linda Ellis Eastman highlighting influential women entrepreneurs, executives, and public speakers.
Happily married and a proud mother of one daughter "Liana", Dr. Neisani Samani enjoys cooking, baking and outdoor activities such as hiking and bicycling. With the long-term goal of becoming a physician-scientist specializing in reproductive medicine, she is devoted to furthering her education in reproductive science, endocrinology and infertility. Her personal experience with a high risk pregnancy, and in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment has deepened her empathy for patients navigating similar journeys, driving her advocacy efforts to support women who seek to build their families.
