GLEN ALLEN, VA, December 05, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Marcelle Wilson Davis has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Davis has established herself as a leading expert in leadership, talent and workforce strategy, with a distinguished career spanning 26 years. In her most recent role as vice president and chief inclusive excellence officer at VCU Health System in Richmond, Virginia, spanning from 2020-2025, she was responsible for building a system-wide inclusive excellence strategy, integrating and operationalizing leadership principles with measurable impact, and ensuring that organizational values reflected operational and inclusive excellence. She successfully led scaled programming that built trust and community, increased access to care and united the academic and medical campuses as well as the broader Richmond community. Dr. Davis was published in national journals for her impactful work, and she led the effort for the health system to win several national awards including a key leader designation for inclusive patient care, ultimately garnering media attention both on television and in print.
Before assuming her most recent role as vice president of inclusive excellence, Dr. Davis served as a talent and organizational development leader at Booz Allen Hamilton in McLean, Virginia, for the preceding two years, where she designed and facilitated firm-wide leadership dialogues and development workshops. She successfully developed the firm's diversity and inclusion integration strategy with 9-box, succession planning and other talent planning processes.
From 2012 to 2018, Dr. Davis worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, leading the organization's diversity and inclusion program. In this capacity, she built critical infrastructure that integrated equity and inclusion into organization-wide talent strategy projects and DEI initiatives, some of which impacted all 12 Reserve Banks, summarily deepening her commitment to build inclusive workplaces that drive organizational excellence. Earlier in her career, she held the position of program manager for diversity and inclusion at Ryder System Inc., served as human resources manager at Holland & Knight LLP and was the managing director at Davis Protective Services Inc.
In addition to her primary roles in healthcare and corporate environments, Dr. Davis has contributed significantly to higher education for approximately 15 years. Since 2020, she has been a graduate professor for graduate and online programs at the University of the Cumberlands, and she was a graduate instructor and course writer for Concordia University Nebraska Online for five years. She also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Southern Maine and Concordia University.
Dr. Davis's own academic achievements have played a pivotal role in her professional success. She earned a Doctor of Strategic Leadership in business and leadership from Regent University in Virginia Beach in 2018. Prior to this, she completed a Master of Business Administration in management from American Intercontinental University in 2007 and a Bachelor of Arts in political science and sociology from Georgia State University in Atlanta in 1995. Furthermore, she received her certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt from Florida International University.
Overall, Dr. Davis attributes her success to her humble beginnings as the youngest of 10 siblings. Her father's dedication to education and entrepreneurship instilled in her the values of striving for excellence and leaving a meaningful legacy for future generations. These formative experiences inspired her passion for equipping employees with growth opportunities and integrating inclusive leadership principles into every facet of her work.
Throughout her career, Dr. Davis has been recognized for her hard work and dedication, qualities rooted deeply in her upbringing. She received the Excellence in Faculty Award from the Black Graduate Student Association at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2025, and her team was honored with the Corporate Excellence Award from the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education that same year. Additional accolades include being named an HR Superstar, one of the Top 50 Women Leaders of Virginia and among the Top 100 Diversity Officers nationwide.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Davis is deeply devoted to her family life as a mother. Her daughter—currently a sophomore at Virginia Tech—is a competitive gymnast, gymnastics coach and gymnastics judge who serves as vice president of her college club gymnastics team. Describing her daughter as both a miracle child and best friend, Dr. Davis draws immense motivation from their close bond and prioritizes quality time together while supporting her daughter's aspirations across any field she chooses. Dr. Davis co-parents her daughter with her ex-husband, to whom she was married for 24 years, and remains very close to. She also reserves time to serve on the board of directors for Special Olympics of Virginia, and Family Lifeline.
Looking ahead, Dr. Davis intends to support her daughter's continued success while expanding her own impact by increasing the number of people she influences by building workforce strategies and high performing teams that are grounded in service and inclusive excellence. She remains dedicated to being a voice for meaningful change and creating more inclusive spaces within workplaces and communities alike.
