A lifelong Missouri resident, Mr. Rother has combined technical expertise with a deep commitment to public-private partnership strategy and community engagement. His career spans senior leadership roles in multimillion-dollar energy projects, strategic consulting and national security initiatives.
A significant highlight in Mr. Rother's career included holding key positions of corporate director of contracts, industrial relations, and security at Prairie State Generating Company in Marissa, Illinois, where he played a pivotal role in the successful completion of its $5+ billion, 1,600 megawatt supercritical coal-fired power plant project – one of the largest energy infrastructure projects in the Midwest. His leadership in industrial relations was pivotal in the project's success and made a significant impact throughout the industrial relations sector — a professional achievement he regards as his most notable.
Following retirement, Mr. Rother as founder of Rother's Consulting Company advising on labor-management collaboration, industrial project execution, and strategic planning expertise, was further recognized during his tenure as a lead construction supervisor-consultant, for Ameren Missouri at their Keokuk and Taum Sauk Hydroelectric Energy Centers, where he provided construction oversight on unit turbine overhauls, as well as oversaw installation of new automated gates. He also contributed as a lead construction supervisor-consultant at the Ameren Rush Island and Meramec Energy Centers on environmental remediation projects, including a complex tank repair project at the Ameren Maryland Heights Renewable Energy Center.
Mr. Rother's career spans senior leadership roles on multimillion-dollar energy projects, including holding the position of business development manager at Murphy Company in St. Louis, where he drove growth initiatives and built key relationships within the heavy industrial market sector. Prior to that, he served in similar roles as Business Manager for Phillips Getschow Company managing a satellite office in St. Louis.
Mr. Rother's earlier executive experience includes serving as vice president of sales and labor relations as well as business unit leader at Strange & Coleman Inc. in Granite City, Illinois, responsible for overseeing major construction activities involving power outages, turnarounds and maintenance projects for heavy industrial clients. He held the same positions and responsibilities at Brooks Erection, a sister Company, also in Granite City, proudly serving his community for more than two decades.
Mr. Rother began his career as project estimator at Hospital Building & Equipment Co. in St. Louis in 1976, during which he was involved in projecting material and equipment costs associated with the pricing of hospitals. He also worked as a project engineer for Peter Kiewit & Son's in Omaha, Nebraska, gaining valuable early experience in highway construction, bridge renovation and strip-mining operations in Wyoming.
Beyond industry and throughout his journey, Mr. Rother has been recognized for his expertise in industrial relations, public-private sector collaboration and civic leadership. In acknowledgment of his leadership abilities, he was appointed by the Missouri Governor and confirmed by the senate gubernatorial committee to serve on the State Board of Mediation in Missouri in 2017, a quasi-judicial board administering the public sector labor law, where he advances fair labor practices and public trust. His civic leadership continues with the City of Arnold Mayor's appointment to serve as commissioner on the City of Arnold Police Board.
Also, an accomplished and lifelong martial artist — including certification as a sixth-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and induction into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2002 and 2014 for excellence in instruction and leadership — Mr. Rother founded and led Mike's Tae Kwon Do Academy of Martial Arts as president and master instructor. Dedicated to mentorship, Master Rother has helped guide young individuals grow their confidence and community engagement, he is particularly proud of his impact on youth development through martial arts instruction; as parents frequently sought his guidance for their children's behavioral challenges, he found deep fulfillment in helping his students achieve positive transformations.
Outside of his primary roles, Mr. Rother has also made an impact through his extensive professional affiliations, including being a member of the West County Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association, an employer trustee for the United Association Local 439 Steamfitters and IBB Locals 363 and 27 Boilermakers and an active member of the (NDTA) National Defense Transportation Association. Additionally, he served as president of the InfraGard Springfield Members Alliance (ISMA), vice president of the Southwestern Illinois Leadership Council, and vice president of the Great South Western Illinois Plumbing & Mechanical Association.
Before venturing onto his diverse vocational path, Mr. Rother pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering through coursework at University of Missouri-Rolla and University of Missouri-Columbia graduating in 1974. Determined to make an impact outside the classroom as well, he was president of Delta Sigma Phi chapter, a member of the University Interfraternity Council and presented the distinguished Delta Sigma Phi Executive Director award for outstanding service. After college, Mr. Rother held the Delta Sigma Phi position of District Governor X111. Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, he also graduated from the St. Louis County Police Citizens Academy in 2015 and 2017 and has pursued numerous certifications to enhance his professional credentials.
Mr. Rother's entry into public-private sector security began when the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) appointed him to attend the FBI Citizens Academy in Springfield in 2011. After graduating from this honorable program, he joined InfraGard upon receiving a formal invitation and has risen through its ranks to the position of President/CEO of the InfraGard Springfield Members Alliance (ISMA), thanks to his distinguished leadership abilities.
Today, Mr. Rother serves as Director of the InfraGard National Members Alliance (INMA), a nonprofit organization affiliated partners with the FBI OPS and dedicated to protecting U.S. critical infrastructure. He currently chairs the Partnership Committee, where he advanced public private collaboration to protect critical infrastructure, serves as Vice Chair of the Budget & Finance Committee, and supports FBI-aligned initiatives that strengthen national resilience through trusted public-private collaboration.

To commemorate his contributions in both private and public sectors, Mr. Rother has been recognized with several accolades throughout his career. He received the Outstanding Leadership Award from InfraGard Springfield Members Alliance in 2019 for national service and civic engagement. In honor of his historic contributions, he was also honored with the Outstanding Service and Dedication award from his fellow board members at the Great Lakes Area Boilermakers Apprenticeship Program and was presented with the Loyalty award by the members of Local 27 Boilermakers in St. Louis, both in 2008.
Determined to continue contributing to his community after five decades of success, Mr. Rother plans to seek election to the Arnold City Council for Ward 2 in 2026, where he seeks to bring transparency, accountability and trusted leadership, while also aspires to expand his impact within InfraGard National, continuing his lifelong mission of strengthening resilience and public trust aspiring toward leadership roles such as commissioner within the Missouri State Labor Department's industrial division. Equally dedicated to expanding the impact of InfraGard National within the national security realm, he aims to attain the position of president of the InfraGard National Members Alliance (INMA).
A devoted family man, Mr. Rother and his partner Nancy are very proud of our two children and four grandchildren.
