Mr. Nickerson's tenure at HdL Coren & Cone provided him with valuable experience that would later inform his leadership approach as the president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Nickerson's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in finance with a minor in real estate law from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, which he completed in 1992. His education provided a strong foundation in financial principles and legal frameworks relevant to the unique services HdL provides, skills that have proven instrumental throughout his career.

Throughout his professional career, Mr. Nickerson has been actively involved in numerous industry-related organizations. He is a member of the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers, the California League of Cities, the International City Managers Association, the Texas City Managers Association, Texas Municipal League, and the Government Finance Officer's Association. These affiliations have enabled Mr. Nickerson to remain at the forefront of industry trends and best practices while fostering connections with peers across municipal finance and city management sectors.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Nickerson has demonstrated a deep commitment to civic engagement through his involvement with Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire. He has served as a board member since 2023 and as the board's vice chair since 2024. He previously chaired the organization's community and individual engagement committee from 2022 to 2024.
