HOUSTON, TX, January 06, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Abderrahman Ouattas, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Earning recognition for his innovative research and dedication to solving complex bioengineering challenges, Dr. Ouattas has established himself as a leading expert in biomechanics, sensorimotor neuroengineering, and motor control and development. In 2025, he began serving as a Bioengineer with Mercor, a software development firm where he applies his expertise to the research and development of biomechanical solutions and the improvement of artificial intelligence (AI) models and outputs.

Concurrently with his work at Mercor, Dr. Ouattas continues to drive important conversations as a scientific writer and reviewer at both Outlier and Handshake AI. Sharing his knowledge and expertise throughout the industry, he guides clients and fellow experts in refining large language models to better understand and connect with human beings.

Prior to joining Mercor, Dr. Ouattas excelled as a postdoctoral research associate at Baylor College of Medicine® within the Texas Medical Center in Houston, TX, since 2023. During this period, he contributed to significant research projects focused on biomechanics and its applications in clinical settings at the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery. During his time at the Texas Medical Center, he also served as a postdoctoral research fellow at McGovern Medical School's Department of Orthopedic Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston), further honing his skills in experimental design and data analysis within the medical sciences.

From 2016 to 2023, Dr. Ouattas served as a predoctoral research fellow at the Department of Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. His most notable achievement during this time was the development of the wearable slipping device known as the Wearable Apparatus for Slipping Purturbations (WASP). The device was engineered to reduce injuries and fatalities caused by slips and falls, particularly for the benefit of adults over the age of 65 who live in regions prone to icy conditions, such as the Midwest, eastern, and northern United States.

The groundbreaking WASP project was part of multiple biomechanical clinical trials and projects supported by a ~$10 million award that was funded by the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) and Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in 2019, a second phase of an earlier ~$10 million grant — a testament to Dr. Ouattas' commitment to improving public health and helping those in need through biomechanical innovation.

Before relocating to the United States, Dr. Ouattas gained valuable experience internationally as a talent identification agent at Aspire Academy in Doha, Qatar, from 2014 to 2016. In this capacity, he played a key role in identifying and nurturing young athletic talent for participation in national sports programs and the opportunity to pursue an athletic career. In 2014, he also served as a project coordinator with the Qatar Olympic Committee, where he organized school courses, wrote course reports, and prepared presentations for professional sports coaches and physical education teachers.

Dedicated to the ideals of lifelong learning, Dr. Ouattas earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomechanics from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2022 after completing a Master of Science in Biomechanics from the same institution in 2018. Determined to make an impact outside the classroom as well, Dr. Ouattas has served as a STEM instructor and an outreach biomechanics ambassador in Omaha, NE, and Houston, TX, in addition to serving as a senior judge for local, national, and international STEM conferences and fairs. Earlier in his academic career, he served as a graduate research assistant from 2016 to 2018, contributing to various studies in biomechanics and sensorimotor neuroengineering. His foundational education includes a Bachelor of Science from Qatar University in 2015.

Along with his education, Dr. Ouattas attributes his success to the unwavering support of his parents, whose encouragement — both emotional and financial — was pivotal throughout his life. He also acknowledges the support of his siblings and the guidance of various mentors, advisors, and colleagues who have influenced his path, as well as institutional support from the United States government and the National Institutes of Health.

Outside of his primary roles, Dr. Ouattas serves as a committee member of the South-Central American Society of Biomechanics and is an active member of both the American Society for Biomechanics and the American College of Sports Medicine. Furthermore, his scholarly contributions — which include first-authoring articles on topics including biomechanical modeling, biomedical devices, and rehabilitative clinical interventions — have been featured in influential journals such as Scientific Reports, Clinical Biomechanics, Diabetes Care, Journal of Neurosurgery, and Frontiers in Public Health. Due to his knowledge and expertise in biomechanics, sensorimotor neuroengineering, and motor control and development, Dr. Ouattas has been regularly invited to conduct peer review for authoritative journals in the field, including the Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Clinical Biomechanics, Journal of Biomechanics, Journal of Motor Behavior, and the Journal of Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery. Given that only the most highly esteemed researchers in the field are invited to evaluate the work of their peers, especially in notable venues like these, it is clear that Dr. Ouattas is seen as very knowledgeable and an expert in the field.

Furthermore, Dr. Ouattas has been invited as a speaker at multiple international and national conferences, including the North American Congress on Biomechanics in Ontario, Canada, and the International Congress of Physical Education, Sports and Kinetotherapy in Bucharest, Romania. His outstanding contributions have earned him recognition with several accolades, including a fellowship from Quality Living Inc. (QLI) in 2019 and Graduate Research and Creative Activity Grants from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2016 and 2019.

Determined to further his impact in the future, Dr. Ouattas aims to establish his own company and give back to his community through advancements in biomechanical science. His ongoing work encompasses building devices, developing clinical trials, and creating biomechanical models designed to improve the quality of life for individuals with neurological or biomechanical disorders.

Also committed to developing advanced tools that serve as assistive devices or measurement instruments that can predict declines in function or quality of life — such as detecting falls or balance issues — Dr. Ouattas frequently utilizes three-dimensional modeling techniques for analyzing biological movements. He remains dedicated to collaborating with hospitals and academic institutions while maintaining an active role within community-focused health care initiatives, reflecting his longstanding legacy of helping others through everything he does.
