Before his tenure at Gibson Wine Company, Mr. Avalos honed his skills at several esteemed wineries. From 2012 to 2017, he served as cellar master at Oak Ridge Winery after working as a seasonal wine technician at E&J Gallo Winery from 2011 to 2012. His career also includes roles as cellar master and assistant winemaker at Murphy Family Vineyards for two years and as cellar master at Windsor Vineyards in Healdsburg for one year. His journey began at Asti Winery, where he spent over a decade as a senior wine technician beginning in 1997, soon after coming to the United States from Mexico.

Mr. Avalos' educational background has played a significant role in his success. He earned a Bachelor of Science in network security from the University of Phoenix in 2012 and an associate degree in general education from Mendocino College in 2008. Although he did not complete his coursework in winemaking at the University of California, Davis, the knowledge he gained there has been invaluable in his career. He also attributes his success to his hard work and dedication in his craft.

Throughout his career, Mr. Avalos has been recognized for his exceptional skill and dedication. He takes immense pride in the numerous awards won by Gibson Wine Company under his leadership, including a Double Gold plaque and "Best of Show" recognition for his cream sherry at the OC Fair Commercial Wine Competition hosted by the Orange County Wine Society in 2022.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Avalos is active in industry-related organizations, involved with the San Joaquin Valley Winegrowers Association and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. Beyond winemaking, he has a passion for horse racing, which he considers his true passion outside of work. Growing up on a farm in Mexico surrounded by horses instilled this love early on, and it remains an important part of his life today.

Looking ahead in his career, Mr. Avalos aspires to create his own wine company that produces wines accessible to people of all backgrounds and financial means. He aims to cater particularly to the Hispanic community by offering sweeter wines that reflect their preferences. He envisions creating wines that resonate with California's diverse population and fill a gap in the market for more relatable options for Hispanic consumers.
