CARLSBAD, NM, January 06, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Carlsbad Department of Development (CDOD) is proud to announce the groundbreaking of the River View Apartments in the Cascades. The development will deliver 36 modern apartment homes with a range of floor plans, helping expand housing options in Carlsbad's high-demand market.

Carlsbad's heavily growing industrial corridor has been a trending growth factor for the economy over the last decade. Unprecedented growth in oil and gas has spurred the need for more housing options, with an influx of workers moving to the area. River View Apartments will bring new, high-end residential capacity to Carlsbad, supporting continued growth and attracting professionals, families, and new investment.

Gary and Alex Millican, principles in the project, are eager to begin construction.

"We are happy to announce the start of an apartment project in the Cascades development to start in January, bringing a more luxurious fine living on the Pecos River in Carlsbad," they announced in a statement.

The River View Apartments will have one-, two-, and three-bedroom floorplans available. The $7 million dollar project will be the newest housing development along the Pecos River, and the first as part of the Cascades at Carlsbad, a mixed-use commercial development led by the CDOD. Currently the Cascades has multiple projects underway totaling nearly $22 million dollars.

"Project River View represents exactly what Cascades was designed to become: a place where long-term vision turns into real investment for Carlsbad," said CDOD Executive Director Kristen Gamboa. "This groundbreaking marks a major step forward in transforming underutilized land into an active, productive part of our community's future."

The City of Carlsbad has been hyper-focused on addressing the housing demand in Carlsbad.
