Earlier in her career, Ms. Castaneda was a social worker with the Kansas Department for Children and Family from 1993 to 1996. Born in Kansas City, Ms. Castaneda is the mother of Dr. Glynis Castaneda, Stephen Lucilo Castaneda II and Giancarlo Castaneda. She enjoys traveling, sightseeing, riding bikes, reading, researching, visiting with family, engaging with the community, practicing self-care, spending time with alpacas and raising bees.

Looking ahead, Ms. Castaneda plans to create a sustainable community in Wyandotte County featuring advanced healthcare and education systems—including a possible branch of the Mayo Clinic- and a healing center focused on natural medical methodologies; seeking to bring a research hospital to the middle of the Midwest.
