Mr. Evans has established a distinguished career spanning decades in engineering, physics and education. Today, he has been interning with the National Nuclear Security Administration - Minority Serving Institution Partnership Program (now NNSA-IMPACT) at the Sandia National Laboratories under the U.S. Department of Energy since 2022. In this capacity, Mr. Evans conducts advanced research on clutter in synthetic aperture radar images, focusing on signals from moving objects that can degrade image clarity. His work has attracted interest from industry leaders such as AT&T for its potential to improve cell phone reception and enhance signal strength. Mr. Evans's research also extends to vibrometry, where he analyzes vibrational patterns of moving ground objects to contribute to the broader field of remote sensing, supporting efforts in mapping, geological monitoring, and water level assessment.

In addition to his work at Sandia National Laboratories, Mr. Evans serves as a graduate electrical engineer specializing in signal processing and synthetic aperture radar at both the University of New Mexico and Sandia National Laboratories. Since 2018, he has also served as a graduate student and teaching assistant in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of New Mexico. In this role, Mr. Evans instructs college-age students in electrical engineering, leveraging his interdisciplinary expertise to bridge engineering concepts with music theory.

In 2021, Mr. Evans completed a research internship at the Air Force Research Laboratory, expanding his experience in defense-related signal processing technologies. From 2017 to 2018, he was a graduate student and office assistant II in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of New Mexico.

Among other roles, Mr. Evans was affiliated with the University of North Texas from 2005 to 2013, where he held several positions within the College of Music, including graduate student, web designer, grader, copyist, engraver and teaching assistant.

Before his academic appointments, Mr. Evans gained industry experience as a computer salesperson at the University of California, Irvine Computer Store from 1999 to 2000. He also worked as a physicist at Rockwell International Corporation (now the Boeing Company) and as an electrical and radar engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company, Ground Systems Group, in Fullerton, California. These roles provided him with foundational expertise in applied physics and engineering. Mr. Evans's early professional journey included serving as a STEM science teacher in the Upward Bound Teaching Program at Long Beach City College, funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
