Ms. Jacobsen's academic journey began at Iowa State University, where she initially explored her interest in health care. After determining that the university was not the optimal environment for medical studies, she redirected her focus and completed her EMT certification while residing at home. Encouraged by her sister—a nurse who had benefited from the support of hospital managers—Ms. Jacobsen pursued formal nursing education. She earned a licensed practical nurse designation in 2020, followed by registered nurse certification from Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City in 2021. Building on this foundation, she achieved a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Walden University in 2022.

Throughout her career, Ms. Jacobsen has credited her family for their unwavering support and inspiration. Her grandmother, a nurse and former manager of the emergency department at the old Manning Hospital, played a formative role in shaping Ms. Jacobsen's aspirations. Early experiences visiting the hospital and participating in educational activities fostered a deep admiration for the nursing profession and a desire to emulate her grandmother's knowledge and compassion.

In addition to her professional responsibilities, Ms. Jacobsen is actively involved in civic service as a volunteer paramedic with Carroll County Ambulance Service. Her commitment to community health extends beyond clinical settings, reflecting a broader dedication to public service.

Ms. Jacobsen is also passionate about education and mentorship within nursing. She currently assists with teaching at the college where she earned her nursing degree, finding fulfillment in guiding students through challenges and helping them discover the rewards of a nursing career. Looking ahead, she aspires to obtain a master's degree to become a family nurse practitioner and pursue additional licensure to further support her teaching ambitions.
