Mr. Powell's introduction to the restaurant industry began at an early age when his father purchased Chuck's Place while he was in fifth grade. Mr. Powell's educational background includes an Associate of Applied Science in mechanics, which he earned from Rend Lake College in 1995. The technical knowledge and problem-solving skills acquired during his studies have been instrumental in both his early industrial career and his later success as a business owner.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Powell is actively involved civically through membership with the Salem Chamber of Commerce and The Elks. He has also contributed creatively through projects such as "Diner Days and Drive-In Nights," which highlights the history and culture surrounding Chuck's Place.

Under Mr. Powell's stewardship, Chuck's Place was honored with the Business of the Year Award in 2023, reflecting both operational excellence and a strong connection to local patrons.
