Mr. Fairbanks is a respected figure in the apparel design industry. He currently serves as the design director at Lace / Cravat, a role he has held since 2025 after launching the firm in 2013. In this capacity, he oversees the design of tailored sport apparel for the brand, and translates creative concepts into an overall creative vision for Lace / Cravat. He conducts extensive archival, cultural and sports research and develops trends for the brand. His responsibilities also include overseeing the men's and women's design, graphics, managing apparel development, handling social media strategy and directing photo shoots and styling sessions, as well as coordinating shipping operations. As a senior designer at Nike Inc., a position he has concurrently held since 2025, Mr. Fairbanks deploys broad expertise in translating innovative ideas into market-ready products, contributing significantly to the brand's continued market dominance. Before progressing to this role, he served as a Senior Designer at adidas America Inc., and Mr. Fairbanks earned valuable experience as a Designer 2 at PUMA North America Inc., where he contributed to the development of sportstyle-driven collections.
Mr. Fairbanks also excelled as a designer with Under Armour® Inc., where he was actively involved in community service through the company's Give Back Program, an initiative through which he participated in local projects that supported underserved communities. Before joining Under Armour®, Mr. Fairbanks thrived as a Designer at Fruit of the Loom and created the first synthetic underwear in the company's 100-year history. He gained foundational knowledge at Perry Ellis International as an Assistant Designer later promoted to Associate Designer where he began designing his first golf brands for the company.
Among Mr. Fairbanks's most notable achievements are designing the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Black History Month uniforms for 17 universities and launching the Anthony Edwards One and Two signature apparel collection. Additionally, he played a crucial role in developing Candace Parker's signature collection, which gained national attention after being featured in Vogue by Condé Nast in 2023 and highlighted in an ESPN Enterprises Inc. documentary. His signature contributions to the industry have been acknowledged with several accolades, including the Funkshion Fashion Show Award at Fashion Week in 2009.
Mr. Fairbanks is a proud military veteran who served honorably during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. After returning from deployment, he initially worked as a security guard while attempting to launch his own t-shirt line. Facing business challenges and personal setbacks, he resolved to change his trajectory. A passion for continuous learning prompted Mr. Fairbanks to complete an Associate Degree in Fashion Design from Miami International University of Art and Design in 2009.
As one of four children raised by a single mother, Mr. Fairbanks credits his adaptability and positivity in the face of challenges as integral to his success thus far. His formative childhood experiences fueled his ambition to provide for himself and his own four children and shaped his drive to succeed in the fashion industry. Notably, he shares his personal journey as a public speaker with students at colleges and universities across Florida, offering guidance on entering the fashion industry, and Mr. Fairbanks is committed to establishing a foundation that supports young aspiring fashion artists from underrepresented backgrounds.
Mr. Fairbanks maintains an active lifestyle and enjoys following sports. Having lived in 12 different states due to his career pursuits and military service, he brings a diverse perspective to both his work and community engagement. Looking toward the future, he plans to secure funding for Lace / Cravat and develop a modern website while opening a flagship retail store in Cincinnati to establish the brand as a local lifestyle destination for all ages. Mr. Fairbanks also intends to expand retail operations within Cincinnati, into the Midwest and nationwide, while collaborating with professional teams such as the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds.
