A Life of Service Across Healthcare, Education, and Faith in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA, January 30, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Roger Haenke has spent the past 15 years building a deep and lasting connection to San Diego. As a healthcare leader, educator, and ordained priest, he brought decades of experience into every space he served. His work shaped hospital systems, supported faith communities, and guided nursing students preparing to enter the field.

Roger Haenke moved to San Diego in 2008. He brought with him years of experience from Minnesota and Washington, where he had led hospital teams, managed clinical operations, and supported patients through direct care and administrative leadership. At Sharp HealthCare, he directed perinatal and neonatal services at one of the busiest women's hospitals in the region. He managed teams, improved processes, and worked closely with physicians and families to ensure consistent care.

Outside of the hospital, Roger Haenke also began serving local congregations. He stepped into ministry roles that focused on spiritual guidance, leadership, and helping communities through periods of transition. At St. John's in Chula Vista, he served as Rector and led a wide range of programs including worship, outreach, and congregational planning. His dual background helped him meet people where they were—whether in a clinical setting or during quiet moments of personal reflection.

In addition to his leadership roles, Roger Haenke also taught at San Diego State University. His courses included nursing management, financial systems in healthcare, and professional development. His students often noted how practical his teaching felt. Roger Haenke helped them understand the realities of healthcare work and the responsibilities that come with leadership.

Across every setting, Roger Haenke kept the same approach. Listen closely. Support people through change. Stay clear and grounded when others are unsure. He became known for his calm presence and ability to lead without needing the spotlight.

Although Roger Haenke has stepped back from formal roles, he remains active in the San Diego community. He continues to support organizations and individuals in quieter ways—mentoring, consulting, and participating in local service when called on. His years in the region reflect a steady legacy of care, leadership, and responsibility.

For Roger Haenke, the work has never been about status. It has always been about showing up, doing things well, and staying committed to others. That hasn't changed.

Roger Haenke is a healthcare leader, educator, and ordained priest with more than fifteen years rooted in the San Diego community. His career reflects steady leadership across hospital systems, universities, and faith organizations, with a focus on service, accountability, and people first work.
