Mr. McAnnally currently serves as the Account Director for the Intelligence Community at Janes, a foundational open-source military intelligence organization. Since joining the firm in 2025, he has played a pivotal role in supporting agencies such as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Defense Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency by providing comprehensive military intelligence data that complements classified sources. In this capacity, Mr. McAnnally helps strengthen partnerships with key government clients, ensuring they have access to reliable intelligence data, and he also serves as the secretary of the board of directors at Janes, contributing to the company's strategic direction and governance.

Before accepting the appointment at Janes, Mr. McAnnally concluded a distinguished 32-year military, civil service, and intelligence career with the United States federal government, retiring in May 2025. His final government assignment was as the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager (GS-15) for the Open Source Enterprise at the CIA from 2024 to 2025, where he managed critical relationships and initiatives supporting open-source intelligence efforts. From 2023 to 2024, he excelled as the Acting Executive Director for Executive Staff Officer career service (GS-15) at the CIA, overseeing talent management and professional development across the agency's workforce. Notably, in 2023, Mr. McAnally was Chief of Staff (GS-15) for the Near East Mission Center at the enterprise level, coordinating operations and supporting mission objectives in a region of significant geopolitical importance.

Between 2022 and 2023, Mr. McAnnally held the position of Chief of Staff (GS-15) for the Europe Eurasia Mission Center at the department level, where he facilitated interdepartmental collaboration and operational planning. In 2022, he was the Chief of Operations (GS-15/executive) for the Associate Director for Military Affairs at the CIA, directing operational activities that bridged military and intelligence priorities. Additionally, from 2020 to 2022, Mr. McAnnally served as a Group Chief (GS-15) for the Associate Director for Military Affairs, leading teams responsible for coordinating with the U.S. military to facilitate intelligence operations, analysis, and collection.

Mr. McAnnally's earlier roles included Branch Chief (GS-15) at the Collection Analysis Center from 2018 to 2020 and Chief of Staff (GS-15) for the Near East Mission Center at the department level from 2015 to 2017. He also earned vital experience as an Executive Assistant to both the Deputy Director of the CIA in 2009 and to the Director for Intelligence from 2008 to 2009. In each of these roles, Mr. McAnnally provided direct support to senior leadership during periods of significant national security developments.

From 2005 to 2008, Mr. McAnnally was a manager and all-source analyst (GS-14) at the CIA, specializing in ballistic missile programs and proliferation analysis. His expertise led him to brief senior officials across multiple administrations and participate in numerous national security meetings at the National Security Council—an achievement he regards as a career highlight due to its direct impact on national safety and security. Before joining the CIA, he thrived as a senior missile technology engineer (GS-15) with the United States Department of Commerce from 2002 to 2005, focusing on dual-use export controls and working closely with both the White House and National Security Council on nonproliferation interdiction efforts.

From 1999 to 2002, Mr. McAnnally served as a Space Launch Monitor and Team Chief (GS-14) at the Defense Technology Security Administration, formerly known as the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. In this role, he expertly monitored commercial space launches for export compliance and represented U.S. interests at technical interchange meetings worldwide. He initiated his honorable military service with the United States Air Force from 1993 to 1999 as a Missile Systems Engineer at Malmstrom Air Force Base, supporting missile operations and working on Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles before transitioning into operations as a Missile Combat Crew Commander Instructor at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. Notably, Mr. McAnnally completed 187 alerts during his tenure.

Mr. McAnnally's academic accomplishments are significant. He holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware, pursued through an Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship and completed in 1992. Additionally, Mr. McAnnally earned a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence with a focus on European studies/civilization from the National Intelligence University, graduating with honors in 2003 after earning the reserve military award for scholarship and leadership.

A diverse range of credentials further define Mr. McAnnally's profile and include a Certificate in Advanced Public Policy Leadership from George Washington University and The Brookings Institution in 2003 and a negotiation professional certificate from the American Negotiation Institute, awarded in 2025. Driven to serve, Mr. McAnnally also actively seeks ways to contribute to the community, acknowledging such opportunities as the chance to make a positive impact on others' lives. To this end, he was named a Council Member of both the Intelligence Champions Council and Technology and Innovation Council within The Intelligence and National Security Alliance, contributing to their artificial intelligence subcommittee, and Mr. McAnnally maintains membership in Kappa Delta Rho.

Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. McAnnally has received numerous accolades, including eight meritorious unit citations; an innovation award from the United States Air Force; a commendation medal from the United States Air Force; and two achievement medals from the United States Air Force. He attributes his success thus far to a willingness to learn from effective leaders and to forge meaningful, sustained relationships across a robust professional network. Notably, Mr. McAnnally credits both exceptional leadership examples and accomplished colleagues for shaping his approach while remaining steadfastly dedicated to each mission undertaken.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Mr. McAnnally enjoys running and participating in marathons—a passion that reflects his enduring dedication to personal discipline and well-being. He is also devoted to his family life with two children and two stepchildren.
