Since 2018, Mr. Davis has served as a Senior Turnaround and Project Specialist at Becht Engineering, a leading engineering and consulting firm that provides sustainable solutions for clients all over the world. In this capacity, some primary responsibilities include conducting turnaround readiness reviews, performing maintenance assessments and leading constructability evaluations. Additionally, he has stewarded audit findings and identifying areas for improvement across organizations, ensuring a culture of continuous growth and operational excellence.
Mr. Davis was the site manager for Becht Engineering at the Valero Port Arthur refinery from 2018 to 2021. Overseeing more than 30 planning, scheduling and project control experts, he was pivotal in driving turnarounds & major maintenance planning while maintaining high safety standards.
A defining milestone in Mr. Davis' career occurred when he served as the crude expansion project tie-in lead at Motiva Enterprises. He was an integral part of the project leadership team. That team managed the $15.5 billion crude expansion project at Shell Motiva's Port Arthur Refinery from 2008 to 2010 — an endeavor recognized as one of the largest petrochemical expansions ever attempted in the Western Hemisphere during that time. The tie-in project that he led was completed with no environmental incidents and zero injuries. The additional capacity more than doubled the size of the refinery from 325,000bbls to more than 625,000bbls, while employing a total of 66,000 construction workers that cycled through the project over five years.
From 2010 to 2012, Mr. Davis contributed as a commission and start-up maintenance manager for the crude expansion project at Motiva. In this role, he played a pivotal part in commissioning new units, developing field execution strategies and ensuring their seamless integration into existing operations.
Mr. Davis excelled as a routine maintenance execution manager from 2012 to 2016. During this time, he directed safety, regulatory and compliance activities and implemented strategies to maximize equipment uptime and workforce productivity.
In 2016 Mr. Davis was selected as the site turnaround execution manager at Motiva Enterprises LLC in Port Arthur, Texas. He was responsible for large-scale turnaround projects _220MM annually, ensuring their timely completion and leading a remarkable 19 consecutive injury-free undertakings in Q1 Solomon performance in schedule and cost. In mid 2016, he was selected as HCU2 de-bottleneck project execution manager, where he oversaw the completion of the $335 million dollar capital project initiative.
Dedicated to making an impact beyond his primary roles, Mr. Davis served as co-chairman of Motiva's Junior Achievement Golf Tournament, fostering community engagement and supporting youth development initiatives throughout southeast Texas. His commitment to civic involvement is further reflected by his service as executive board chairman of the Golden Triangle Business Roundtable as the regional area Turnaround focal point, which allowed him to collaborate regionally with business leaders, on initiatives aimed at strengthening local industry alignment and standards.
Mr. Davis' professional excellence has been recognized through several prestigious accolades over the years. He was presented with the President's Award by Motiva in both 2015 and 2016 and named Boss of The Year by Port Arthur News in 2015. Earlier in his journey, he received the CEO President's Award from the Bridgestone Firestone Executive Committee in 1996.
Before venturing onto his vocational path, Mr. Davis completed coursework in construction management at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, from 1981 to 1984. Reflecting on his storied journey to date, he attributes his achievements to a strong passion for engaging and leading people as well as his relentless drive for innovation and efficiency. Growing up in Beaumont, a major petrochemical hub, exposed him early on to opportunities within the oil and gas sector and shaped his aspirations toward impactful roles within the field.
Determined to further his impact in the coming years, Mr. Davis aims to enhance value by collaborating on projects with major oil and gas companies globally such as Suncor and Irving Oil to name a few. With a focus on developing planning standards and work processes for both upstream and downstream, his ultimate goal is to improve maintenance efficiencies and create advancement opportunities for these organizations and their employees.
