Earlier, Mr. Faber served as the president and chief executive officer of The Partnership for Excellence in Columbus, Ohio, from 2011 to 2014. Here, he led efforts that helped organizations in Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Illinois and Western Pennsylvania utilize Baldrige-based assessments, leadership development tools, and a proven framework for continuous improvement to realize and maximize their value and opportunities for growth.
Mr. Faber's distinguished military career culminated in his service as a colonel in the U.S. Army. Joining the military at age 18, he quickly rose through the ranks due to his commitment and leadership abilities. Serving as a senior U.S. Army aviator, instructor pilot and maintenance test pilot, he also commanded units at the company, battalion and brigade levels, leading tens of thousands of soldiers and numerous installations. Mr. Faber's expertise in military operations laid a strong foundation for his subsequent leadership roles in civilian organizations.
Mr. Faber graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in management from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, in 1990 and a Master of Arts in international relations from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, in 2001. He also pursued doctoral coursework at the University of Dayton and is a graduate of the Command and Staff Program at the United States Naval War College. Moreover, Mr. Faber furthered his studies as a U.S. Army, National Security Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and completed several certificate programs that have contributed to his leadership acumen, including international leadership and management from Tufts University and leadership strategies from the University of Alabama.
Widely regarded as an expert in organizational leadership, quality and performance excellence, Mr. Faber's expertise is reflected in his service with several industry-related organizations, including the Citizen Soldier Memorial Board of Directors, the National Guard Association of the United States Board of Directors, the Federal Foresight Advocacy Alliance's strategic advisory board, American Mensa and the American Society for Quality. Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Faber is civically engaged with organizations such as Trout Unlimited, Disabled American Veterans, and local food banks.
Among Mr. Faber's most notable achievements during his military service was developing and implementing a strategic plan that extended TRICARE health care benefits to military reserve members and their families even when not on active duty. Despite significant budget opposition, initially by the Government Accountability Office, he worked collaboratively with several general officers to secure bipartisan support from Congress and military service chiefs. The plan was successfully implemented in 2005 and became one of the leading recruiting tools for reserve components and is recognized as one of the most significant benefits awarded to American military personnel and their families since World War II.
Mr. Faber's exemplary service has been recognized through numerous awards, including the Legion of Merit from the U.S. Military, the Distinguished Service Medal from the National Guard Association of the United States, and several Leadership Excellence Awards from the Baldrige Community. He attributes his success to hard work and an unwavering commitment to lifelong learning.
